Lionel Messi - v7

How am I calling him a piece of shit? I'm saying he doesn't look bothered and he's being lazy.... which he is for the most part. He doesn't want to be here. You can tell that by his body language.

I wasn't even against him leaving back in August because I knew this would happen. I knew this would be his worst season for us. When you're lacking motivation and you don't want to be here, it's going to affect your performance. It's not a coincidence anymore. Yeah, he's not as good as he used to be.... but that's not because he's "declined." It's more to do with the reasons I've stated.

It's definitely both, man is done physically.

This 1000x. He will be wasted here and we can't afford his salary anyway.. Sign Depay and Wienajdum. Whatever. They will give us more than Messi in his current mental state.

Actually, even if we sign nobody, let Messi go.. He has checked out from Barca.n

The only reason we want those two is because our coach is Dutch and wants Dutch players. We don't need another number 10, and a midfielder that's not a defensive midfielder and a true CM and/or box to box type.

The point is though, even if they are a bit wrong fix, they are better than checked out Messi costing us hundred mil a season.

Is it really? I don't think replacing a player that doesn't fit with players that don't fit is a better situation, since they'll be here for a lot longer. The money is a crucial point, agree with you on that.

as usual you start from a fact (poor performance of Messi today) to feed a whole narrative that only distracts from the real problems of this team.
I really hope that when we get rid of this "weight", Barca will inaugurate a new winning cycle ...
I think it's not that simple ..

What are the real problems? Everyone knows it. It's the management and poor squad planning, as well as players having too much influence in the locking room. Messi's exit and a failure to make it into the CL coupled with a financial crisis could turn this club into a 4-5th place level side but I think it's unlikely.

It was always going to be a tough game playing from behind against a parked bus.

Messi gets force fed the ball way too much. I watched the 1st half of the 5-0 El Clasico, and Messi didn't have any whete as close to the touches he gets now.

All the new signings over the past few years have a weak mentality. Lack of go getters

Yeah we lost because of Messi.

LMAO don't even @ me.

Same shit different game. He had a good first half but fell away second. Disappointing free-kicks. Genuinely looked tired towards the end of the match.

This is beyond a motivation issue. thats basically saying Messi is unprofessional with a poor attitude. Leo himself said despite wanting to leave, he'd give his all this season. sure footballers talk alot of crap but for his legacies sake, i doubt he would down tools when he knows he can leave next year for free anyways. hes paid massive wages, it would be a disgrace if hes purposely not giving a shit

Sub Messi out and you see those new signings trying things out for themselves. It's not Messi's fault that they depend on him too much, but we know that's the trend or current culture.

He can't sustain playing 90 minutes given his age and his physical condition. That is precisely why he shouldn't be a starter anymore. He should be brought on as more of a special weapon when the other team is tired and when everything else fails.

We need to shift the game away from being centered around him and use him as something extra, like a bonus.

Well, he doesn't really have a good supporting cast. He's always had some type of help in the past. This season.... he just hasn't got it. With the lack of motivation, with him not wanting to be here.... and with also Suarez leaving, which he was against, I feel he just doesn't trust his teammates enough. All those reasons will affect your performance. Not to mention, Barcelona's future is uncertain. We don't know what board we'll have in 2 months. We don't know what their sporting project will be. We'll have no money to rebuild properly. We don't really have a good manager in charge.

It does feel like he's playing like someone who knows he's only got 7 months left on his contract and he's just going through the motions. Mixed that with the reasons I've stated, it's going to affect his performance.

He has a tough choice. He's 34 next year. Does he stay and struggle with a rebuilding Barcelona and probably never win another trophy again. Or, does he go to another big team like City and win a few more trophies with a coach he likes?
