unfortunately messi's mindset really isn't greatest-of-all-time-worthy. talent, sure, titles and awards too, but the attitude is flawed. clearly messi should be able to see this barca team isn't working at all, AND he has the power to do something about it. yet he continues to do nothing about it, and his in-game body language and work attitude is piss poor too, especially this season. someone would need to literally shake him awake, as right now he's idly pissing away part of his legacy that cannot ever be recovered when he will have retired! but what could accomplish that? only total disaster. out in first knockout round in cl, no domestic titles. and maybe even that wouldn't be enough to make a cataclysm revolutionise the club. this situation is so fucked

Can't understand the people wanting him to leave for his legacy. That Messi fanboy mentality. The best interests of Barca should be paramount.
Can't understand any football fan wanting him to retire soon. Even in a relatively underwhelming performance he still gave football lovers a moment of genius with that feint from heaven in that disallowed goal.
The only club I see him leaving for is Newells. He would still be the best player in the world at Bayern Juve City or PSG, but he is declining. His body type and play style was always going to mean he tailored off early, in fact he has done exceptionally to prolong such high levels for so long. Last season's extraordinary season being the best example of this.
But that's the crescendo I'm afraid. He can still win all the trophies but he needs help now - tough for him to win em single handed any more. It's downhill from here I'm afraid.

Isn't that selfish? He already gave barca enough, he always outperformed his contract, sure from a club fan perspective you will want the best player to stay so you can benefit, but clubs always let their best players go and nothing is wrong with that. You basically want the greatest ever to waste his talent so you can win some la liga trophy.

Not selfish at all. Yeah he has been super loyal to Barca but Barca has also treated him well and gave him a lot. It's been mutually beneficial. In regards to how club legends are treated Barca has an exceptional record compared with most clubs. Also very few reasonable people genuinely believe he is wasting his talent here. The roster is stacked, money is being spent, we just don't have the best of managers.
Winning la ligas should not be devalued. People here like to turn their noses up at La Liga but they can't have been Barca fans for long otherwise they would have remembered how difficult it was to win before Leo turned up.

Was unlucky with a couple of chances but it just says volumes when the only option he had while having the ball in space in this system was to try to dribble past every defender on his way. 2011 Messi could do it consistently, this one can't anymore.

And the worst part is he seems fine with this shitshow which is why I'm finding it harder and harder to have sympathy for him.
He's being wasted and he doesn't seem to care given his public backing of EV.
