Messi overcame his Nemesis - Alisson Becker - who previously has led Liverpool and the Brazil NT to important 2019 titles. Alisson ALMOST succeeded again today but, fortunately, Messi was too quick in his follow-up to his penalty.
During a subsequent 1-on-1, Alisson again showed his class. He is without a doubt the #1 goalkeeper.
Anyway, it must feel good for Messi that he overcame Alisson's resistance.

Congratulation to Messi for his 6th Ballon dor

i also feel messi is going to win,
there seems to be a sinister campaign to get messi to win,
there seems to be hype eveywhere over him

abit like when c.dog was winning it.

poor van dike not being talked about

the brazil win is big. messi won fifa award , will be followed up with ballon

however this should not hide what's happening with him and barca -, the team is in big trouble under valverde - years are passing quick with valverde
what will it take for him to be sacked

Bit different to previous years. The odds aren’t that conclusive + Messi has been putting in GOAT performances recently and he won FIFA The Best. If any serious rumours or leaks come out in the next few weeks about Messi potentially winning it watch the odds shift.

Van Dijk is going to win it, and will probably be deserved imo. It is good in a way that the title is now going to the best performing player in the best team of that year. It's about time a defender wins it. These guys rarely win individual awards in front of attacking players.

Ballon d'Or is not about who is the best player period. It is an annual award going to the player with the best performances over the year and also, most importantly, the player with the greatest performances in the biggest competitions.

It is normal a Liverpool players wins it. They were the best in 2019. It is a team sport. The highest achievement for a player is to lead their team to the greatest heights. Dan Dijk did that in 2019, Messi did not. This doesn't mean Van Dijk is a better player than Messi.

Everyone acts as if the team doesn't matter. Of course it does. Why do you think Messi won 4/4 under Pep, and 1/6 after that? During Pep he played lights out in a dominant team that was THE team to beat. Great success with the team gets you, as a key and very influential member in that team, the most chances to win individual awards.
