Lionel Messi - v7

Only reason I can see him staying is because of his kids.

He’ll take less at City no doubt about it. If they get rid of Aguero that helps.

also, but I'm thinking all reasons why he could stay here and there is only one that makes sense, maybe we are the only club so desperate to give him same wage he has right now. Messi would go to PSG or City to take I don't know, the double of the highest paid player there?

Messi always talked about how it was harsh for him leaving his family and moving abroad, and that he doesn't want his kids to have the same experience.
His kids is his biggest motivation to stay

better than ending his career alongside the Bermuda triangle of Busquets, Pique, Lenglet

And i did said in a post above that both Psg and City will be much more in line to his wishes than what Barca offers at the moment, from a football point of view.

City is not stupid so they won't take Messi. Pep does not live in the past and can leave things behind.
I don't know about PSG because I would imagine they would maybe take Messi but don't know about ffp issues.

At the end Messi will stay because no other CL team will want him or be able to finance him. If he gets the most money here at Barca, he will stay anyway. + kids grew up in Barcelona, are in school etc.

Man City can certainly afford him. He won't be getting anywhere close to what he is with us.

As for Laporta, I think it's going to end in disaster. It's a totally different time when he was in charge. People seem to forget that his first season with us wasn't great at all. We finished with 72 points despite having a better squad than we have now. He was very fortunate players like Iniesta and Valdes came through the La Masia that year. In his next season in charge, he got lucky with Messi coming through.

His spending was quite big back then. He spent 452m euros and only brought back 142m euros. That might not seem like that much in 7 years, but it was back then. He also did one of the worst transfers in our history..... Eto'o + 65m euros for Ibra. Yet again, he was very fortunate to have players like Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes, Pique (I know he was at Man Utd earlier on) and Messi were already at the club before he took charge. He had a very good and fortunate youth system to build off. He really doesn't have that now. I know we have Fati, but we don't have the quality of youth we had back then.

The point I'm making is..... I don't think he can do it again. He doesn't have any money. The club is in much worse debt. Our squad is in a big mess and needs a major rebuild, a rebuild that needs a lot of money to fix it..... money we won't have for a while. He's most likely only going to get loan and free signings this season and most likely next season. Nowadays, if you want quality players, you have to pay over the odds. It's very rare to find a very good and world-class player on a small fee. As I said, it's a very different time.... and he's been away for over 10 years. He had a lot of luck compared to others.

I just want him to go to Man city because all the attention is in the PL, and it would be easy to prove the few people that are still skeptical of him, wrong.

It would be funny to try to prove to skeptical people something by having messi at 34-35 move to PL. There is nothing to be proven. And skeptical as you say people will not change their mind.
It all goes down to financial availability of other teams and Messi being able to move his family.

People are saying all the time ''yeah, but his family lives in Barcelona'', ''Barcelona is such a ghreat city'' etc.First of all,he will live in the most richest part of Manchester,or God knows what mansion he'll have.Second of all,the english arerich, and even if Manchester may not be as shiny as Barcelona,he doesn't go there for tourism ffs. He''ll be fine in Manchjester.Of course,Paris can be a better option from a glamorous point of view, but i don't think that matters for Messi that much.

Nah, it shouldn make any difference. Only kids moving away is an issue at that age. If it wasn't he would have left after anfield.

PSG will be his next destination. Neymar, Di Maria, Pochettino etc. Wouldnt surprise me if PSG also bought Suarez, just to please Messi.

They cannot sign Messi due to FFP. They just lost 200m euros in revenue due to COVID, and they also lost a lot of money from their TV deal. Besides, there are no guarantees that Di Maria will be there in the summer. They can't also sign Suarez if they sign Messi. They more than likely have to sell or release players to balance the books in the summer. The only reason this rumor is going around is that Neymar is there and because they're rich. If you actually do enough research, you'll see that they can't have Neymar, Mbappe and Messi on the same team due to the FFP.

You can also make the same case for Man City. They have Pep and Aguero there. If anything, Man City is the most likely destination due to him being best friends with Aguero (he'll probably sign a new deal in the summer) and with him playing under Pep before. Also, Man City are in better shape in regards to the FFP.
