Lionel Messi - v7

If Mbappe would play in this slow, devoid of ideas and quality team,i wonder how he would look?Messi,in the right team(for example City),would still put better numbers at 34 years old than Mbappe.Mbappe doesn't even have 50% of the natural talent Messi has.

Yep. Swap Messi for any attacker in the world in that game against PSG and result would be same.

he has the same numbers as mbappe this season, in all comps. while mbappe is 22, playing in ligue 1 with psg(a team that not only is by far the richest, but also gets favored by refs).

yes guys, to me all three of these comments make sense.

The question is: Can 12 years of difference, between an absolute genius and a top player, make a top player more performative than an absolute genius?
In modern football I think so, but in this case not so much.
And this is not to the detriment of genius, but it brings out its greatness (the comparison is with Mbapp?, among the top 4-5 strongest players in the prime of age. Messi has an age where normal players could retire).

This in a football where only the result counts. If I have to judge poetry and beauty, I'd keep Messi all my life

Mbappe will never come close to the level of dominance that Messi showed at his peak. He simply doesn't have the natural talent.

BUT, those of you saying that if you put Messi in PSG, then PSG would dominate just as well. I don't think so. Messi has declined too much physically (at 34 it's only natural) to run any kind of blistering counter attacks, which is what PSG mostly plays. Messi's time of dominating top level CL games is over. He last did that v Pool (and Napoli I guess). Just accept it and find closure.

this also makes sense.

BUT, I don't see such a dominant PSG (they dominate with Barca that sucks).

Probabily they would lose very badly to Bayern or City for example ...

Cringe worthy thread on Redcafe titled - Would you rather City signed Haaland or Messi. I know that forum is dickhead central, but even for them it's astonishing. All say Messi...

Haaland is a superb young talent, and he'd slot in as a top class replacement for Aguero for years to come but Messi would give them European dominance for two or three years. and likely win them the treble, something Utd fans love bragging about.

The amount of disrepect Messi gets is ridiculous, as if Mbappe, Neymar, Haaland or Lewandowski would do any better in the current team.

Messi wages are like 10x Halaand tho and he's way older.

Of course they would rather then sign 34 year old Messi and not a young Haaland.

It is the logical answer and not disrespectful.

PSG being favored by refs. Nice one, you have just admitted you don't watch Ligue 1 games. France refs tend to like to be the stars of the game and will often forget to whistle fouls on players like Neymar and not give cards for obvious fouls. There is also the mentality of rooting for the smallest team in general. Such things sometimes make referee not give things to the biggest teams in order to "balance" things out.

Just recently PSG was robbed 2 penalty kicks against OM :

Must be on a beach enjoying margaritas in his head.

Cause he's certainly not focused on the game.

Oh really? So one game is suddenly the benchmark?

While Khelaifi goes live in French TV and says that he prefers Turpin to referee them in all games.

Since Qatar took over, PSG have most penalties received in Ligue 1, by far
