Presidential candidate Toni Freixa claims to have an investor who would contribute 250 million euros for the operation of 49 percent of the businesses linked to 'Bar?a Corporate'. With these funds, he would sign two stars: a forward and a defender. [via tmw]

We weren't to even close being a top side before 2005 so why should we expect that every season now. Our golden era is gone and will probably never come back. We should try to be a little more humble, even more after all these consecutive humiliations.

A side that is not in top doesn't have players Maradona,Romario,Stoicikov,Laudrup,Kluivert,Rivaldo,Ronaldo playing for them.I said the players before this era started.so i'm not mentioning Ronaldinho,Messi,Suarez,Eto'o etc.We were pwerenially underachievers in the Champions Cup surely before Cruyff took over, but we were always a top side. When you look at our trophy haul,we are easily in the first five teams in world's football history. We are just a very patchy club, especially in the Champions League.I'm sure in this lifetime,Barcelona will win at least one more Champions League. If it'll still exist.

And a current retired Totti aged 44 probably moves more off the ball than a current Messi.

I don't understand these people who still try to keep and somehow shoehorn Messi into the team.

He can stay for 6m per season and if he wants to play 10 mins per match, at home matches.

Don';t worry,he'll be gone,and we will play the superstars Braithwaite,Griezzman and Dembele.Champagne football,only without the bubbles.And it's gonna be a discount champagne,5 euros bottle,from Tesco.

he talked about messi also. he said

"Messi's contract must be aligned with the club. We lowered revenues by € 350 million and Leo is aware of that."

"I trust the continuity of Messi ... But in the event that it was not possible and that his will was another, which we would respect, we would give him all the recognitions he deserves"

"Bar?a has 121 years of history. Neither Messi, the best in history, nor any player can be so essential to the club as to suffer an irreversible situation if he does not continue ... The strength of the club is his idea, his sport model, training"

hoping messi to score (even a penalty against the worst defence in the league) but saying nothing about his overall performance, contribution, energy, leadership is as silly as hyping up CR simply because hes a goal scorer (the worst argument to make on behalf of cr)

HIGH EXPECTATIONS for our BEST PLAYER

well, no

im also not all that interested in whether he scores 6 goals against elche

im more interested in what he can do for the team in the CL. hes supposed to be the GOAT, no? what sort of expectations does that entail? scoring against minnows or being decisive in the important knock out matches of the most elite competition?

DEMAND BETTER. especially if he is on bat shit crazy wages

give him a better team, one that is close to PSG for example and he would make the difference in that tie

Can say he’ll spend a billion but doesn’t matter if he doesn’t win. Which he won’t.

That is just passing buck from Messi not playing well or finiding way to influence game enough. He was poor and off the ball was a disaster if want to compare him to best player in other team in Mbappe.

Messi struggles these days to improve those around him or make overall team better. He needs ball in final third or is ineffective too often.

Mbappe was far better than Messi in midweek even allowing for their team mates.

You can't just re-write history, Barca were always one of the big European clubs, by 2000 in the Top 5 leagues only Juve with 25, Real with 27 and Liverpool with 18 had more League titles than Barca. Barca along with Bayern Munich and AC Milan had 16. The club underachieved in Europe but still made 4 European cup finals by the turn of the century, so lets not pretend that we are new kids on the block.

Barca along with Real are the two most historic clubs in European football history, and one of the clubs Golden era's is over but it was not the first nor will it be the last. This is what it is like being a football fan, it is up and down always has been and always will be. The clubs that are up right now will fall in a few years, this is just a down moment for the club but it will make the future success taste sweeter.
