yeah, that period did exist, except it was 6 years ago, and football didnt stop in 2015. its been 6 years and messi is still a professional player. by that logic we should bring dinho back to play for us because he was great in 2005.

im also not exaggerating CR's KO goal stats. those are real, and they are superior, by far, to messis. i dont think that can be disputed.

We're talking about careers here. You can't ignore the beginning 7-8 years of CR7's career when he was in Messi's shadow and then use the last 6 years where Messi has been playing second fiddle to him in CL as your primary source of evidence. Either use all evidence or don't use any at all.

I don't understand why you fail at this simple logic. Football also didn't BEGIN IN 2015.

sure--thats fair. career wise, though, CR still has one more CL, more CL goals and more CL KO goals, record-high season in terms of goals. im not sure how you can claim, based on this, that messi has had an equal or better CL career.

I'm not claiming that at all. I'm saying the difference isn't that big in CL. Messi's most dominant CL performances > CR7's most dominant CL performances, but CR7 has more of them.

Messi is a better league player. He's been better v CR7's RM and United H2H. Which gives him the edge overall. I've held this position for a while now.

i think thats fair. im not sure well agree about this.

my position has always been that while messi reached a higher peak, CR had a better career overall; since in addition to his better CL record he also has 2 NT titles. at their very best messi was better, but in the long term CR edged him out. i think reasonable people can disagree about this though.

certainly CR's CL career with Juve has dented the edge he had achieved over messi up until 2018; ill grant that.

Yeah , Messi was surelly exposed in that out of this world campaing of his when we got knocked out by Liverpool.
