Lionel Messi - v7

I think Messi will choose Man City over PSG. I think Man City is just sitting back and letting Messi make his decision. If he decides to leave, I think they'll step in and make Messi an offer.

PSG cannot have Messi, Neymar and Mbappe in the same team. FFP won't allow it, especially after Mbappe's and Neymar's wage increase from signing new contracts. Besides, when you look at that PSG squad, it isn't very good. They have a declining Neymar, who will most likely miss half the season next season due to being injured. Mbappe will probably stay one more season, but he can't carry them to a Champions League himself. Verratti and Marquinhos are decent enough players.... but the rest of the squad is pretty average. Their best of winning the Champions League has come and gone. If Messi goes there, they won't be winning it.

FFP is finished but if both Neymar and Mbappe extended even on higher wages it would free up some of it if still being applied.

Messi will not go to psg, he knows his legacy in barcelona will be forever tarnished if he goes to that particular team(or madrid).
People wont mind if he goes to any other team.

Honestly, I'm starting to think that Real Madrid and Barca should go to war against UEFA simply to get Ceferin out.

If Ceferin's vision is to allow PSG and Man City spend money freely with a very soft FFP and not hold them accountable then he's going to destroy European football.

Bold move with potentially devastating consequences it if fails, which it has big chances of doing.

Barca and Madrid not being in CL next few years doesnt devalue it nearly as much as would have in the past in terms of prestige.

The team that wins it can still claim to be the best really.

If Barca/Real were on top would be a different story. The power lies with UEFA as it is.

That's the problem. Barca and Madrid are not the two leading clubs anymore. They could exclude them both and few would bat an eye about it. That's why they should make a step back. Don't have the power to make these sort of moves these days.

Exactly. Man United and AC Milan, two powerhouses in the 2000s dropped out seemlessly. Juve, Barca and Real in their current forms wont be missed.

These clubs should stop fecking about, and start to make decisive steps by phasing out the old players. Madrid vs Chelsea looked a mismatch physically. The Madrid from 3-4 years ago would've handled them with ease.

If City win the Champions League this season then signing Messi would be an excellent marketing deal.

For PSG they have passed their peak of the Neymar/Mbappe project so it would also make sense to pay Messi big for one last CL hurrah. They can actually reinforce other areas of the squad too next season with FFP being relaxed.

We can't company financially with the rest of Europe anymore for signings nor Messi wage. So if he stays it is purely because of comfort and love of the club.

If City win the CL and Messi goes there it doesnt look too great for him and they then have to totally change a team and style that finally got them the CL.

Cant see it happening.

On the contrary, if City win the CL this year, then signing Messi is useless. They are the best in the world, doing what they are doing, why would you need Messi? City don't seem interested to sign very big names. They are invested in pleasing Pep as much as possible. Pep, despite everything he might be saying, doesn't fancy Messi at this point imo. Especially if they win CL this season.
