Lionel Messi - v7

Just my guess but I think a solution they'll have to settle for is a 1+1 year contract with Messi accepting even a bit lower salary this season than previously agreed and then when we can clear up some more wages and generate more incomes during next season (with fans hopefully returning to stadiums etc.) his wages will increase (for what will probably be his last season at the club) when our salary cap situation will be better.

According to Gerard Romero, we're looking to sell Braithwaite.... but he wants to stay. We're also trying to sell Coutinho, but it will be difficult because of his salary and due to him only coming back from a long injury. They're trying to force Dembele to take a 50% due to his injury. They're looking to force Griezmann out of the club due to his 800k a week wages. Busquets also has to lower his salary or he's gone. We'll either terminate Pjanic and Umtiti or they'll be loaned out (I doubt we can terminate them due to how much we'll have to pay them off). We're probably going to sell Alena with a buyback clause. We'll sell Lenglet if the right offer comes in. If Alba doesn't lower his salary, we'll sell him. We're also looking to sell Neto.

So.... that's 11 players we're looking to let go just so we can get under the salary cap. I'm sorry, but all this just to keep Messi here.

Our depth will be completely lacking if this happens. And we won't be able to replace them.

Out of all of those players how many of them are worth keeping in the club? Busquets has already lowered his salary, Alba will do the same for a longer contract. The rest aren't worth keeping.

Noticed how Messi contract news this past 2 days has disappeared.

Instead, we get loads of contract termination, loan, sell, interest from other clubs etc.

So, better get the b-team ready because in order to keep Messi we may need to get half of our senior players out.

Then who would you play? This ain't Fifa. We cannot have only 13-14 players on the squad to compete whole season.

So it's Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann, Braithwaite and Lenglet altogether right?

Coutinho been injured all year - won't be missed.
Dembele looks set for another season of injuries
Griezmann we would miss his contribution, not exactly a massive contribution though.
Braithwaite barely got a game.
Lenglet is the shittest defender I've seen get regular game time at barca.

All in all can't say I'd miss any of them.

Edit:

Oh we'd replace the forwards with Depay and Aguero + Fati coming back from injury (hopefully)
Emerson is also arriving

I'm not saying those players are amazing or whatnot, I'm just saying we'll be completely lacking depth-wise if we release all of them. The first team will be just Fati, Depay, Aguero, Messi, Pedri, de Jong, Garcia, Pique, Dest, Emerson and ter Stegen. My problem is, what happens if a few of our starters get injured? Aguero is injury-prone, Fati has only just come back from a long injury. I'd rather have Busquets, Griezmann, Coutinho, Alba in our first team or have them for actual depth than put pressure on inexperienced La Masia kids. We're honestly banking on a 34-year-old Messi to carry us to wins once again.

Looks like they're prepared to go with that starting 11 and use the La Masia for depth. Very concerning.

Busquets ad Alba are staying so no point using them in your argument. You want depth in case of injuries but use Coutinho as someone to provide that depth after spending a season injured? Griezmann is te only fair shout amongst potential players leaving and he's been far from great.

Have you just intentionally not mentioned Lenglet and Braithwaite to prove your point?

This was a separate reply to the other person who named different players. Unless that's your alt account?

Edit:

Happy to go over Braithwaite and Lenglet though.

I don't think we'd really miss Braithwaite's 2 goals and 2 assists in la liga. Nor would we miss Lenglet's mistakes leading to us dropping 8-12 points.

Not separate account. It just that we are talking on the same topic and I'm too lazy to reply to you the same as xxxxxx.

And in addition, he also mentioned Lenglet and Braithwaite in his first post you replied.

We've already replaced Braithwaite and Lenglet we need to try to sell. He's way out of his depth.

The idea that we'll sell any important players just to keep Messi is stupid at best and seem more malicious by the people who just want Messi out at any cost. Likes of Ansu, Pedri, Frenkie, Araujo, you know players that actually count and matter will stay.

Griezmann is probably the *only* important player we'd have to move on from and Griezmann has no position at Barca. I'd take a 34 year old Messi over a 30 year old Griezmann any day of the week.

A 34 year old Messi is still at worst a top five player in the World while Griezmann isn't even top 15.
