Lionel Messi - v7

If Messi stays, the amount of players we would have to offload would make it a far worse squad than even the last two seasons. Some project dawg

The question is where we draw the line. But for now we literally have 10+ players to get rid off either way (Neto, Umtiti, Junior, Roberto, Pjanic, Braithwaite, Coutinho, Alena, Lenglet?, Dembele?, Griezmann?+ the ones, who already left). If that is not enough then I would prioritize the squad over Messi.

"Barcelona at risk of not being able to register new signings if they don't reduce their squad wages from 347M? to 160M?."

Stunning, this club is finished

I really don't understand where and how they came up with this 160m figure, Tebas pulled it out of his ass? Even with a 350m loss, we still have an expected revenue of close to 600m or so for the 20/21 season (last time I read), 160m would have been like 26% of the revenue. What gives?

Overall I appreciate the wage bill limit La Liga has, as it forces us to instill the discipline we lack ourselves when it comes to managing our wage bill. However, Tebas and La Liga would be seriously mistaken if they think a club like ours can sustain with a mere 160m wage bill. Crippling us will cripple the league.

Any idea what the wage bill limit for Real Madrid is?

This year the salary cap is 347M BUT if next year we still have losses it will be way less.

That is why we are trying to lower the wage bill as much as possible, no longer below the 347M that we have at most. If not, because the board have already made budget accounts and we need to lower the wage bill even more to have benefits next season.
If next year we have losses and the wage bill falls, we will be at the level of Sevilla or Villareal in salary cap.

This will not end until the wage bill is controlled and there are financial benefits in the budget.

Another thing. If Messi reduces his wages, this new wages does not count for the salary cap. It is the average of the last two or three years.
For example, Messi earned 138M if this year he earns half, 69M. For the rule of the wage bill it would appear as 103.5M

More problems.

People still don't realize that FCB will have more money trouble without Messi than with Messi even with his salary.

i will not be surprised if all the contract with sponsors includes a Messi clause.

True, think about Argentina for example. If Messi doesn't play a friendly match, Argentina makes one or two million euros less per game. There's a fee for Messi.

Messi brings more money than we believe. Imagine whole season without Messi? Less spectators in stand, less people watching home and less sponsors in the long run.

Only way you should get rid of Messi, if you believe you can make so strong team without Messi that they can win something, like Chelsea CL this season, but let's face it.. without Messi we will suck.

Messi is massive for this team, money wise and success wise.

So we can't build a good team with our money resources. We need all the income we can get.

We need Messi more than ever. Economically and on the pitch.

It's also Messi is known even in area with no soccer culture, if I'm Coca-Cola I am more interested in that than a competitive team for FCB.

For the covid era FCB did a very poor job for the online presence.

Anyway 2022 season should be a normal one, FCB was the highest earner in the world in 2019 before covid even with all CLs fails.

Yeah. If Messi decides to stay after all the cuts we're seeing (not that we were that strong before them), then he doesn't care about the project at all.

What are those big cuts we are speaking? Umtiknee and Pyaworse?Even Griezzyboy, if he goes, it s not a big deal. I think people shouldn t forget Messi is 34. It s not that easy to move to another league at that age.

Pogba is more open to joining PSG. PSG are also following Messi's situation and Camavinga is a possible target as well. (Mohamed Bouhafsi)

That would leave us with:

GK: ter Stegen, Pena
Defenders: Pique, Araujo, Mingueza, Garcia; Alba, Dest, Emerson
Midfielders: FdJ, Pedri, Busquets, Puig, Moriba, Collado
Attackers: Aguero, Fati, Depay, Messi

That's a weak-ass squad. These players we ousted may not be great, but are overall better than many left. Griezman >> Aguero & Depay, even though I'm not a fan. Dembele's got some pace. Not an ounce of pace in this attack. Lenglet isn't perfect, yet he started for us and there's a reason. Etc.

Plus: we're forced to oust these players. We're basically begging to get rid of them so don't have an upper hand in it and will record even worse losses.

Ah, such a disheartening situation..
