Lionel Messi - v7

So is there any chance HE WON'T get it? How would that happen? Kane or Lewandowski going on some crazy historical scoring spree? Assuming Messi keeps bagging assists and goals once the season starts, it's over right?

It's Messi or Lewandowski this year. Any other suggestion is just ridiculous.

I'm laughing at the Kante, Kane, Jorginho suggestions these past weeks. They haven't been close to Messi or Lewandowski this year.

Messi winning the Copa is good. I feel bad for Lewandowski who carried Poland and scored 3 great goals but his teammates just sucked. Also the 2020 award being stolen from him. If it's not going to be Messi then I 100% back Lewandowski for the award.

What your saying makes no sense though. They cant give the 2021 title to Lewandowski for his 2020 magic run. That would completely screw over how the title is assessed anyway. An ideal situation would be to just give Lewa 2020 bdor and Messi 2021

Hehe. I used Calciopoli to exasporate the point. Cannavaro had a fantastic world cup but should that have been the defining judgement for the Balon D'or?

2006 had Barcelona winning their first CL of the new era and also a league double. Yet the top 3 were Cannavaro, Buffon then Henry.

I agree with your general point but think you could've chosen a better example :)
Cannavaro made some sense, but the rest of the top 3 was ridiculous of course.

This was before they made it "FIFA Ballon d'or" and the top 3 is in line with that.
They decided Michael Owen was once the best in the world, and Shevchenko was apparently a better player than Ronaldinho in 2004... Nedved better than Henry and Zidane in 2003... For example!

Please just put me on ignore and it'll save you the world of hurt.

Anyway, at least I'm a straight talker and say things how they are. Laporta is thinking the fans are idiots by repeating the same bullshit over and over. It's obviously not progressing that well if he's had to repeat the same sentence for the past 6 or 7 weeks. We all know it's down to the fact they can't afford him and they're panicking to get rid of most of their high earners to keep one guy.

You literally repeat the same shit every day in every thread. Give it a rest.

It's like you're in a constant state of panic.

OMG ARE WE GOING TO PAY MESSI'S LOYALTY BONUS

OMG WE ARE DOOMED

OMG NO ONE ARE GOING TO BUY OUR PLAYERS, WE ARE FUCKED. WE CANNOT AFFORD A PACK OF CRISPS

Fucking hell.

What's with the capitals? Calm down, buddy!

We shouldn't be paying Messi's loyalty bonus when we're in shit debt, but I guess that's down to Bartomeu for giving him a shit contract. But, we definitely shouldn't be offering him what Laporta wants to offer him. We don't have the money. It's putting pressure on the rest of the squad and we'll probably have to rely on a lot more La Masia kids for depth. It seems we can't move on from Messi when we should be a lot more graceful. It seems that Messi is bigger than our club the way they're panicking trying to get rid of a lot of the big earners just to keep Messi here. If we let Messi go last year, we would have been a lot better off. We would have saved 134m from his salary, 33m from his loyalty bonus, maybe got a potential 70m to 100m for a transfer fee.... and then we would have saved money from his future signing on fee and wages. We honestly could have been 300m to 400m better off this summer. You're going to argue about what he brings in, but I bet he hasn't brought anywhere close to what he used to due to COVID. We still would have finished top 4 without Messi last season. We'll still finish top 4 this season without Messi.

We are doomed for the time being. We're in oceans of debt, just took another 525m euros loan and we're well over the wage bill cap.... and we can't even register our new signings.

Am I not right about the other teams not wanting our players? We have a Coutinho who has barely played in the past 18 months who is on over 300k a week and has only just come back from a long injury. We have a Dembele who is currently injured and hasn't been that good for us..... not to mention, why would any team sign him now when they can get him for free next season? Also, he's probably getting 300k a week in wages. Griezmann is 30 and is on 800k a week. Why would any team want to spend any money or take a 30-year-old who is on 800k a week, especially during COVID? Not to mention, Umtiti and Pjanic have barely played in the last 18 months and they're on over 200k a week.

It's not me being negative, it's me being honest about our current situation. I've been supporting Barcelona for over 30 years. I've seen the Romario days, the Ronaldo days.... I've been a Barcelona fan when we were in the shit back in the early 2000s. I remember the classic Rivaldo hat-trick against Valencia. I've gone through the good, the bad, the good again.... and I'm here for the worse again.

If you're getting offended by my comments, then I have no clue what to tell you. I'm going to keep being myself.... and if you don't like it, just put me on ignore and we'll go on from there. I'm not prepared to argue with you when you're going off-topic in a Messi thread.

The former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker, among other top goalscorer achievements with the England team in the 1986 World Cup, popularized a very particular definition of football in his day: “It is a sport that they play once against once and that Germany always wins. ”.

Thirty years later, he has adapted the definition to the reality of current football: "Football is a sport in which 22 players play with the ball for 90 minutes and in the end the team that Messi has wins," says Lineker, an unconditional devotee of the game. Argentine crack, whose theory was confirmed again in the final of the Copa Am?rica.

Gary knows. :messi:
