Really? So what, the likes of Depay, Emerson, Garcia now count against the cap even though they aren't registered?

Thought that only registered players count for the cap.

Cant just not register existing players and then not count them in LFP.

New players I am not sure but dont think they would count as never registered.

The video to announce Messi's renewal was ready. Messi thought he was going to join his teammates in training tomorrow. It took everyone by surprise.

? @deportescope

Everyone message Tebes now and get it trending we need fan protests ASAP and we need flares. I will fly over to Barcelona first chance I get to contribute

Laporta most definitely thought of every possible solution. I sincerely believe he wanted Messi to stay as much as the next fanboy in here.

With plan A (sell players) not working, he put into place plan B a bit less than a month before the transfer window closes, hoping that Tebas will budge.
I doubt there's a plan C, maybe to pay off players their contracts so that they leave, but that would be extremely expensive just to keep Messi for a couple of years.

Expensive contracts of non-performers are only part of the problem. High amortisations (and La Liga counting them into the salary cap) are the bigger one and you can't solve that by relieving players. The amortisations of expensive players like Griezmann, Frenkie, Coutinho and Dembele is killing Plan C. Tebas budging is the only way out. I doubt he will. This thing is done and we can be happy if we can registrate Memphis, Emerson, Aguero and Garcia.

He will budge brother I can yell louder than any eagle and I will be outside his offices as soon as I can

No matter what a salary cap of 160m which is on the level off Villarreal is ridiculous and hard to overcome no matter who is in charge, Laporta or not.

If the value of La Liga's next TV deal comes down significantly and I expect it to be down, it is on Tebas.

Sooner or later Messi will have to leave and we will have to go through a period of rebuild. We do have some promising players coming through the pipelines so it is not all doom and gloom.

Some might think the way we announced his departure today was "cold", I tend to agree but I think the club statement did it well to say the club and Messi reached an agreement for him to renew but it couldn't materialize because of La Liga's salary cap. The club clearly indicated the blame was not on Messi, ie. Messi wanting more money all of sudden etc.

Having Messi is still better than not having him. Of course eventually he would leave/retire. But it is kind of shitty to lose the best player around and keep Dembele, Coutinho, Umtiti, Griezmann.
