Lionel Messi - v7

Also, it is stupid to demand a technical director to publicly name unhappy players or players who voice their concern. It's not his job to expose these players to possible abuse from the gang who backed Valverde, who happens to be formed by players of high hierarchy in the team. His job is to gather information about the manager, and asses the situation. That's it.

I side with Abidal here totally.

He’s not one for politics. Messi didn’t say what he said to actually mean it.

Just comes across as Messi being pissed off club went against his wishes and wants to know who is responsible for complaining.

Doesnt come across as a leader protecting his team mates as some are making out.

SOOO, after all these deliberations, what is the Forum de Amigos' verdict on Messi?

Someone in high authorithy should make it clear that times are changing, and he needs to go with the program. If he turns it into a power-play, the best course of action would be to part ways imo, with all the risks that come from it.

Also, it is a terribly bad idea to sack Abidal for showing backbone and addressing these issues. This will send a bad signal to Setien as well. Basically if you piss of the veterans, you go, so be careful what you say. If that's the way forward, some terrible seasons are coming.

I wish this club was run like Real Madrid, they sorted out similar issues in recent years and had success

btw this also probably confirms most of the journalists' rumours about our dressing room within the last 3 months or so: how did they know otherwise? So there may be a "mole" in the squad who wanted EV out.

There are more moles in the squad. Basically the players in their prime or near their prime who don't develop at all because the team is custom tailored to please lazy veterans who don't want to work too hard.

Alena for sure. Now he is out on loan I think it might be Rakitic who leaked the news about the fights between two players. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Arthur was involved

Agree with this 100%.

They are ruthless with their players and have moved on when the time is right. Not awarding past success with new improved contracts (Busi I’m looking at you)

I wonder if Frenkie said something about not wanting Valverde. He came from a high intensity team to this steaming pile of shit

Setien the cattle herder? He is just a lamb sent to slaughter. 5th choice for taking over and lesser authority than the cleaning lady at the Camp Nou. Dead man walking with a rolling contract

Everyone here is GRATEFUL and PRIVILEGED to watch Messi play all these years.

And everyone should agree that the board is responsible for this shitshow, have no doubts about it.

However, there is no doubt that the locker room is toxic the past few years. And Messi is the team captain and the most senior player.

So,it is natural for people to question his words or the lack of them.

Abidal didn’t say that Messi himself didn’t like EV’s methods though. He didn’t even imply that it was Messi. He just said “some players”.Which can mean anything. And yes some players have the right to be disappointed with EV,not everyone had to be content with him just like Club de Amigos.

Spot on.

The fact Messi is our best player ever, we're grateful to watch him, we would be in a terrible place without him etc. can all be true while also calling him out when he overreaches his authority as a player for the club.

Abidal did not mention anyone by name, he did not refer to Club de Amigos or any clique in the dressing room. The fact that Leo is so supremely outraged by this that he decided to come out in public and make his voice heard is a good indication of where he stood on Valverde and also the players that are guilty of the accusations made by Abidal.

Bale contract about as bad as it gets but in general they are more ruthless but at same time not had the mythical all time home grown players that Barca are too scared to take power away from.

That's the problem though, it can mean anything any be integrated by whatever the way the media chooses to.

PR 101: This is always a bad idea.
