Lionel Messi - v7

He's taking the piss, I get it, but why should he put in so much effort when all the board did was waste his prime years? I hated Messi for throwing a tandrum but at the same time I do sympathise for him. I don't think at all he's the smartest off field but on field he does contribute a lot, the fact that when he's not playing well, he's still man of the match tells you the team isnt good enough, especially with injuries and age, not including the 17/18 season squad tho, i think we could have been better with Iniesta still providing some help with Semedo and Dembele fit after being back from injury. We could have done much better against Roma. Then 18/19 CL was very much a Leo effort. This season our attack is extremely paper thin with Griezmann not being the right profile and Suarez and Dembele out.

I think Messi has even placed more emphasis on Barca because he knows he has more chance of winning than with Argentina, a useless squad against giants.

I think he's the least of the concerns right now, if the board has made proper planning we could have at least 2 CLs by now and none of this shit drama would have happened. But they chose to kept Valverde and make all these senseless signings just to please the fans that doesnt aid Messi one bit given his attacking abilities.

Also,as Sailor Mars mentioned,he was “lucky” to not face the Rockets in 94 and 95.It is true that he may have lost to them, but most importantly if he hadn’t retired, there’s no way in my mind he is getting the titles in 96-98.

The retirement and the loss against the Magic in 95 helped Jordan and the Bulls to regroup physically and mentally(with key signings such as Rodman),which propelled them to the second threepeat.

In other words, the scenario of Jordan and the Bulls winning EVERY ring between 91 and 98 if he hadn’t retired is laughable in my mind. They would eventually fail, whether that was in 94,95 or 96,as every great dynasty did before them.

Of course he still the GOAT though

I agree that Jordan would not have won every ring from 91-98, but a part of Jordan' legacy is being 6-0 in the finals. I have no doubt that if he didn't retire, the Bulls would have lost to the Rockets in the finals for sure. Losing in the finals wouldn't change Jordan's legacy as the GOAT, but would still impact his "ruthlessness".

you do realize that he supported Valverde not once but twice publicly? No, I was not expecting him to speak negatively, but he could have said that it is not his decision on whether or not Valverde should stay and refuse to comment. It is a very diplomatic and acceptable response.

I disagree

His ruthlessness wouldn’t take a hit if he lost 1 or 2 finals, but still played great in them.Winning a NBA final comes down to many things:teammates, injuries, how good the opponents are etc,so it isn’t fair to blame a specific player.

I mean, every player has a huge body of work that can help us call them great, ruthless etc. So,it can’t and shouldn’t come down to a specific playoff series, unless it’s an absolutely career-defining one.

Furthermore, the “6-0” narrative is misused imo.The importance of the argument isn’t that Jordan never lost in the Finals..because why should it be so much worse to lose in the Finals rather than any other series?

The importance of the 6-0 argument is that, from the point Jordan finally conquered the NBA in 91,there was no one that managed to bring him down until he self-consciously retired in 98.That is the true definition of a dynasty.

Of course there is the slight asterisk about Magic in 95,but everyone is right to forget it because he won another threepeat in 96-98.

Let him go to City or PSG in the summer for his own sake. I hope all the narcissists on here who turned on him for backing Valverde and Suarez are loving the way we're playing without them

Trying is an understatement. He looks like he is 4 players. This is not normal. Messi needing to drop to left back so we can beat the press.

Thought he played well , had 3-4 on him every time he was on the ball , hes playing with dross.

Greizman fixing his hair at the end summed the guy up.

Typical that he missed that great chance, his finishing is absolutely meh these days. But by far our best player even though he is in the worst form of his career. Says alot about him, and even more about our shit team.

He probably should leave whilst he still has some good years left in him. This club will not get back to the top for a while. We just don't have the squad, board and resources for it.

I hate it how everything has to go through him.
Everybody has to pass to him, forget about all other players waiting for a throughball, pass to Messi, he will make the throughball
I think it will get better once he retires, moves on and we rebuild from scratch. The messidependencia is way too much
