Lionel Messi - v7

If Messi leaves Bartomeu can forget even entering the City of Barcelona as Miguel Rico put it.

Anything can happen tbh. We could get a new competent board or we could get a worse one and end up like Manchester United. Powerhouse financially, but shit otherwise.

I do have a feeling he'll consider it if this season end up being a wash.

📻 [SER🥇] | The French 'clan' at the club are the ones who told Abidal that the team did little training

🔶 Players like Ter Stegen have been upset for a while because the feeling is that they are drifting apart

The French vs Messi.

LOL Waterloo 2.0 dawgs

It would be really sad if he leaves through the back door. He's meant so much to the club and I believe it would kill most if not every Barca fan to see him walk away like that. Everyone associated to this board will be gone, it's unforgivable and even their friends in the press will stop supporting them.

So I expect them to make some significant steps to avoid that happening, but as usual I don't really know if they're aware of what we need when it comes to a manager and players in & out.

Dembele complaining about not enough practice? Umtiti? What the hell. These guys didn't play at all. Maybe that's why.

Griezmann might feel alienated by Valverdes practise after Simeone, though.

Exactly.

Umtiti and Dembele aren't even starters. So that only leaves Griezmann and Lenglet. So much for a clan.

Plenty of big names have left the club on bad terms. Sadly this seems the norm here. R9, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Eto, Ibra etc

Messi is the biggest but I am willing to bet money he will walk away this season. I put a 50 that he will leave this season. I think he realizes that the board are useless and he's wasted precious time in the hope that the board could assemble a competitive team.

His cycle is over here. He needs a change and not to waste the last productive years of his career.

Also this club needs a reboot and needs to stop building everything around him.

The only decent performance I've seen this season was the Inter game away. We fielded a young, inexperienced team and they did pretty good.

Build the side around Griezmann now. I'm not a fan of his but he'd perform better as the main man. Give Coutinho a chance too. Bench Pique or sell. Umtiti has to go. Lenglet is a bench option. Two new CBS, a box to box midfielder and a striker would be required.

😂

OK put your nuts where your mouth is?!

The team is in a downward spiral, there is nothing on the bench, team has a new manager etc. Messi wants a competitive team, not one that bends over at the first sign of adversity. He will leave.

Legendary player but I wouldn't mind seeing him leave. A well drilled team with 10 pressing but also talented outfield players beats having a mismatched, unbalanced team with one superstar capable of scoring 50 goals a season.

He's so close to banging in goals again. In 1-2 weeks nobody's even going to think about him leaving.

It would be the real downfall of Barca if you try to build around Griezmann. Guy cant dribble or shoot and is not used to the possession style and tight spaces. He is more suited for the pragmatic style of France and Atletico, where he can put his workrate to use. In Barca, its more about offensive capabilities.

Griezmann is extremely limited in this area, people might think he is some kind of special player who tracks back and defend, but overall his cons outweighs his pros. Even Neymar as a main man in Barca has more potential. Griezmann should go to a different team, that uses his skillset more. If Griezmann was so good attacking wise clubs like City will be after him but only we are the one who thinks he is a good signing. France was just incredibly stacked with Mbappe and Pogba carrying the team more. He never won the CL anyway, and the World cup was just a one off. For me, he is a somewhat decent second striker who makes use of set pieces and loose balls to fluff up his stats, in reality he is extremely conservative and deficient. I mean, it's not like we haven't seen him struggled without Messi as well.

He wouldnt play significantly better unless we massively alter our style to be like Atletico 2.0. It's really not that easy being a main man at Barca as many claimed. Building a team also requires the right profile and man for the job, not just based solely on numbers of goals and assists, because his playmaking and dribbling is absolutely atrocious.

I agree though Messi should leave with this clown of a board, but to think some players or the team will play better without him is an overstatement.

Agreed, he should be let go of along with Coutinho. Never watched Atletico on a regular basis so it's only noq I've seen just how limited he is as an attacker. A far-cry from the prototypical Barcelona attacker that specialises in dribbling, creativity, and speed. Like what the fuck, all that for 120m.

I don't think we'll play better without Messi, but if we intend on building a new team (which is a must right now) Messi shoudn't be in it - unless he's willing to take a more disciplined tactical role. Seeing City's 2017/2018 or the current Liverpool team, it's obvious that we don't need a 50+ goalscorer to be a monstrous team. I can honestly see Messi working quite well if he takes on a more Aguero type role, but he sees himself as a walking midfielder now and no coach will have the balls to tell him no.
