It's time to ask an inevitable question:
= what if Messi has declined a lot and a master EV was actually able to get 120% out of this, granny Messi?

Trying to belittle Messi (who has 6 assists in last 3 games and is just missing his scoring boots) to big up EV.

Shameless stuff.

Get out of him how? Do you think he instructed Messi how to take freekicks or score golazos? As Messi gets older it is likely that he will decline even more. It's normal 33 year Messi is more declined than 30 years old Messi. Just as 35-36 year old Messi will be weaker than 33 years old Messi.

The point is to move the team away from Messi, as Messi grows older and older. In 2 seasons we should already start to see Messi out of the team. Just as Xavi and Iniesta were moved on, Messi should be too at 35. It's life.

I think the lack of Leo's goal scoring output has more to do with his own natural decline and the absence of Suarez more than anything else. He was hardly setting the world on fire this season even when Valverde was still here. Suarez got injured around the same time Valverde was sacked and he began slumping ever since.

Time will tell.

That is more likely. Suarez being out means more heat on Messi. But goalscoring is also due to Messi declining, or could be related to discomfort. Seen news that he is carrying a knock and his leg is covered in tape in the left thigh area.

messi had basically more chances from open play with setien that the entire rest of the season, don't think Valverde had something to do with Messi banging the net from 30 meters. He's just in the worst scoring/shooting slump of his career (today again he passed the ball to the gk in the first half...)

I would be more worried if he didnt get the chances. Yes the first wasnt a great effort but everything else was good. The header was one his best technically and was just a top save to deny him. Anyway his assist was brilliant and general play also brilliant

Plot twist in BBZ world. Messi didn't carry Valverde. Valverde carried this sorry ass declined version of Messi and won him a Ballon d'Or.
