Lionel Messi - v7

I can't believe people on a Barca forum are trying to argue that Thomas Muller would be more valuable to any team than Lionel Messi. If Bayern thought they would have a realistic chance of getting Messi they would drop Muller in a heartbeat as would anyone else, the gap in quality between the two players is enormous. And it is easy for Bayern fans to say they wouldn't swap, but if the had the chance to in real life then Messi would be a Bayern player in the morning.

nah mate. idiots in here got it into their heads that muller>messi because that donkey(who was dropped from the first 11 by bayern at one point) runs more.

Btw Muller was a bench player before the new year. Than Bayern replaced Kovac with Flick who put him in to appropriate system and the rest is history.

Probably they would take M?ller over Messi and that not because Muller is better than Messi as Messi is 10x better in the most aspects of football but Bayern have already players who can score, dribbling, are fast, create chances and dominating the ball so they dont need these attributes anymore. The only characteristic which is missing is a 'workhorse' player who runs and runs and runs. So Bayern will need a Muller more than Messi but this conclusion doesnt imply that Muller is better than Messi. So te amo barca key message is right.

No one would argue Muller > Messi, especcially over the entire career.
Only thing is many would argue Messi wouldn't be of value to Bayern considering his reluctance to press or even run.

Besides, why would they replace a club legend with a 33 year old, even if it's the GOAT.
Muller lives and breathes Bayern and would never walk around the pitch like Messi did yesterday.

Messi can pick out any club he wants, but Bayern, City or Liverpool wouldn't need him due to system/hierarchy issues.

It'll be 2030 and people will be arguing we should keep Messi just because even at 43 he'll have that left foot which can provide a tiny bit of magic. Meanwhile he'll be running 500 m per game by then but it'll all be ok because LEFT FOOT. What kind of logic is this.

The idea of a cohesive team built on hard work from every player seems so foreign to Barcelona "fans". I've not even seen this from RM or Milan (in their heyday when they were big names driven).

There shouldn't be a single player in the outfield whose defensive duties are 0 in modern football.

Team is a reflection of the "fans" in a way. You can't rip on the players for not running 110 km + and then support players in the team who put us below that.

The quality of this forum is going down...

Most of the users can't even discern what the discussion is about. They think it's about Muller > Messi..

FIFA 20 level.

Also, in any high functioning professional setting, if the best/leader holds themselves to a lower standard of effort than the rest, there is absolutely no motivation for the others to uphold their end of the bargain.

We'll see soon enough who the true Barcelona fans are and who are not. It's good in a way.

Just had a look at the Man United forum and people don't even want him there. They can't even beat Sevilla yet they don't want to add a player that doesn't run. Then people here are arguing he can still play at any club he wants and would even play over Muller at Bayern because he can dribble and shoot better despite not bothering to even jog these days?

I love Messi, he's the Goat and the reason I became a Barca fan, but if he's not going to bother putting in any effort anymore he should go.

He needs to take a good, hard look at himself in the mirror like other champions have done in other sports (Roger comes to mind etc). If he can light a fire in effort in the big games, rest in small games, and become more tactically inclined, he still has 1-2 years of elite football left in him. But at another club please.

He won't do that in his comfort zone here at Barcelona where he's already 10 times more powerful than any board/coach.

Do you realistically think Barto is getting rid of Messi?? The guy who has been trying and spectacularly failing to get rid of Rakitic for the past few seasons ... The best shot we have is to hope he has the will to clear the other amigos out, at this point even Pique Alba and Busquets seem like a long shot. He probably would offer them new 4 year extensions at this point

Critical final years of his career, major revolution is needed............... he has to work with Ronald Koeman. Sad.

Messi is a big part of the problem so no, its not sad. i'm seeing a trend of other clubs fans doing exactly what Barca fans were doing before most of us saw the light;

"poor Messi, hes surrounded by shit players, a shit board and mediocre managers. hopefully he joins City so he can win stuff again"
