Lionel Messi - v7

There's also the possibility that the next board will not make better signings than Barto...

With no money right now, it could be a rough time for the club.

Even at their worst I think Barca end 3rd place in La Liga, but the days of challenging for the CL could be far away and I don't think the likes of Frenkie will be a part of a rebuilding project for max two years.

We do need to get rid of a lot of players, but even then the future might not be as bright as people hope for.

Things will improve with a new board and Amigos out imo. Not right away, but in time we'll see things long gone be reintegrated in the team. Speed, workrate, pressing, defending as a unit.

1 CL in 9 years is not something we can't do again with a new cycle. It's not like we were a force in CL since Pep left.

It will have a big impact if we see him with a "free role" to do what he wants. It will limit the way other players develop. If he accepts some changes, he would be able to help.

Yeah goal has to be moving away from depending on Messi for everything, even if he stays. It clearly doesn't work for tough games and it won't get easier with age.

We'll see if Koeman can find a solution. Making Messi work in a system that doesn't depend on him and sets the team up for the following years would be the biggest achievement, better than grinding out another la liga with the current pass-to-Messi tactics.

Not to mention we signed a complete asshat like Umtiti who deliberately sacrificed his Barca career for a WC.

It's unacceptable that he wants to continue to freeload on Barcelona wages. But that is what you get with this board who offered Alba an extension till 2024?

I'm on board the hope train if we stay away from a useless galactico this summer (and not cripple the next board in the process) and ship out as many amigos as can ASAP.

One of Joan Laporta and Jordi Roche will win the elections. You never know what Laporta will do without Cruyff being there to advice him and a lot of his close people being elsewhere now and not wanting to return to Barca.

Jordi Roche is a close friend of Rosell and is being lobbied by him to run. If he wins you could see a lot of the same

If I could choose two former players to return to Barca right now it would be Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano. I think they'll respect the club's values without being as blindly idealistic as others.

The solution is pretty straightforward imo. Keep Messi out of the midfield, move him instead of Suarez, and have every other player around him working hard and moving fast.

Ship out or bench. Either way, Koeman has the power. Nobody can force the veterans down his throat now.

If Laporta wins he will try to get in the team of Font would be my guess.

Think Laporta will stay quiet throughout elections and try to win on past glories without much of a plan put forward.

That'd be smart I think. Would also bring back Puyol and Mascherano in some positions in the club. Perhaps he can lobby Txiki to return as our Director of Football again. He's still the best DOF/SD we've had since 2003.

Anyway, it would be normal for the other side to win the election. Not some Barto/Rosell protege. Not unless we believe status quo is worth pursuing .

The people who vote in Catalunya aren't the best at seeing things as anything else but the status quo.

Laporta will need to mend his relations with Santi Nolla(MD) and Ernest Folch(Sport) if he want to win. Otherwise they'll 100% endorse Jordi Roche and portray him as Barca's saviour and Laporta as the evil man who is sleeping with hookers and porn stars.
