It actually could have an opposite effect, talented players might want to join us to lead the team.

I think Messi's been unhappy since we lost Neymar. If you remember Messi 'begged' Neymar to return to Barcelona, which Abidal and Bartomeu failed to deliver even after Neymar openly express his return to Barcelona.
I agree certain players needs to go, regeneration is required at this stage and if we look back, this is Frank Rikjaard to Pep Guardiola all over again. Whatever they need to do, be it financial, trasfers-wise they need to do it quick.
I'm putting high hopes for Ronald Koeman but he can't do it alone.
As for Messi's transfer, I hope Messi doesn't leave for free - and I'm crossing my finger whatever we get from Messi's transfer, the board will use it wisely.

Messi's decision to leave is irreversible. Nothing and nobody will be able to make Messi change his mind, he wants to leave Barca. The Argentine star doesn't want to enter a legal battle and hopes to reach an agreement with the club. [sport]

Of course Messi was unhappy Neymar left. Neymar is top class and played well with Messi.... but Neymar left to be main man as much as anything.

Cant blame board for not managing to get him back. Neymar put himself at club virtually impossible to get him back from.

Personally want to see Barca build again and move on from old core and transfers too often aimed at immediate impact.

If the Messi fanboys stop watching then so be it but Barca will continue and can get back to basics even if takes a few years.

The guy & his people made this crapfest we are witnessing now. 6 years of total incapacity.
The horde of inept coaches and players that went through this club during last 6 years is amazing. It takes true anti-talent to bring this club from all time high to this current low and
he also took a shit on goat's prime. Any capable organization with similar background would dominate in the past 6 years internationally and domestically.

Everything that we are witnessing now, including the mob of amigos is on him.

Messi is the one who opened the can of worms though in regards to the clause in the contract. The Barca board are thus obligaated to act in the best interests of the club, whether they'll actually do so remains to be seen :lol:

The club should not let him leave for free to go to another big european team.

Messi can have his contract cancelled but Suarez wont leave for penny less than his contract?

If club buckle and let him go for free it makes a bad situation even worse.

Club comes first and all one last power play banking on club not wanting image of taking him to court.

Messi made an irreversible decision. Even Bartomeu's resignation will not keep Messi at Barca. Leo will not wear the Barcelona shirt again. Sad, but true. [Alfredo Martinez]
