Messi is the one who opened the can of worms though in regards to the clause in the contract. The Barca board are thus obligaated to act in the best interests of the club, whether they'll actually do so remains to be seen

Still though, after all Messi has done for the club its dishusting if you try to force him to stay or take him to court imo.

I'll believe it when I see it. Didn't he also retire from Argentina and then backtracked?

He's retired from Argentina in 2016 after the final loss, refused to celebrate the 2006 CL win because he didn't play. I love Messi as much as any Barca fan, but he has a history with these kind of things done on emotion.

Of course it's over. They need to sit down and talk. Talking over the media and fax machines is DISRESPECTFUL AND STUPID AS IT GETS! Awful communication from Leo and from the club! This is Barca and not fucking FC Clownlona! Just sit down, talk and find a solution. FUCKING IDIOTS!

Well they won't get him for free. They can forget about that. If they back down to City they are the biggest idiots ever!

The club should not let him leave for free to go to another big european team.

Messi can have his contract cancelled but Suarez wont leave for penny less than his contract?

If club buckle and let him go for free it makes a bad situation even worse.

Club comes first and all one last power play banking on club not wanting image of taking him to court.

I feel they will compromise for smaller fee eventually.
Still sad that he is going out like this.
Maybe he will come back in 2 yearsvif we have a new board/sporting project. His family will prefer living in Barcelona.

it's ova

Messi has made an irrevocable decision. Not even Bartomeu’s resignation would stop Messi from leaving. He will not wear the Barcelona shirt again.

he did have that clause and we really don't know when he announced his departure.

they'll negotiate, but in the end if he goes for free you can't begrudge him that.

we got him for free so leaving the same wouldn't make us look bad.

Should go for as big a fee as can.

Barca are not a charity for Man City.

If Messi wanted to head off to a lesser league in retirement mode fair enough reduced fee then but not to City.
