He will play every game and the new board will try to convince him of a new project
What will they say?

"Amh...yea we are broke. Yea we have biggest wages in the world and yes, we cannot get rid of the dead wood but we want to build a new generation around you Messi. Around 34yr old you..."

If you believe those stories fed by people close to the board......why do the veterans have so much influence in the first place?

I've said it a hundred times before, but everything starts at the top.

But this doesn't absolve the veterans for a big blame. This just makes the board and Bartomeu the main responsible, which is pretty clear anyway. Sorry, but a team doesn't get to 8-2 loss without shared blame at nearly all levels.

So, pointing fingers at this point is useless. Nobody is clean. Let bygones be bygones and see what we do next from this point.

Yes, but why did we even get to this point? That's my problem.

He is gaining nothing from it. Messi has less then a year on his contract. He is 33yr old, he will shatter the relationshop with GOAT and the guy who put Barca in contention with biggest clubs in the world (because Barca wasnt that before him, look at La Liga titles and 1CL for example).

Fucking moron of president.

Gaining nothing from it? okay lets put Messi and Barto aside; what do Barca gain from letting Messi leave for FREE to join another top European club?* some bullshit 'honor'? Honor isn't going to help us rebuild the squad

look past Barto and look at Barca. we exist when Messi is gone and we exist when Barto is gone

*if Messi had been leaving to go home to Argentina its acceptable but people here seem to think 'its the right thing to do', letting our best player leave for free to a plastic oil club we should be milking  insanity

Don't wanna spread any conspiracies.

But anyone realised the Lautaro rumours stopped and we are linked with actual strikers now.

Wonder why that is hmmmmm

They'll come to an agreement if he truly wants to leave, 70m wages plus a transfer fee for someone who can leave for free in 9 months is too good to turn down and is at the detriment of the club to not accept. I'm just wondering if any of the sponsorship deals we have, have Messi clauses in it. E.g. has to play a certain amount of games or at least be present in the club. Would mean financially speaking selling him doesn't mean much.

What is their plan? To force him to stay? Imagine the amount of "I don't give a fuck" attitude he would have during the next season.

If we truly want him to stay Barto needs to resign ASAP and the new president has to be elected immediately. In any other scenario we should let him go for a decent amount of money. Messi is just to big legend, who can not be forced to do anything against his will.
