Lionel Messi - v7

We can't even rebuild because all attention has been given to Messi now. The consequences of this are massive. Koeman is probably sitting in his house twiddling his thumbs because he has no clue which players he will have and not have next season. Imagine Messi leaves and Suarez is still here? The locker room atmosphere would be very weird, Suarez would probably get in arguments with Koeman blaming Messi's departure on him. Also, I'm sure other players are waiting for Messi's decision to decide if they want to stay here too. All in all, our rebuild is going to shit with this taking so long.

Our team is essentially built around Messi, and lots of people are forgetting that. our tactical setup completely changes if he's gone. I'm sure Koeman wasn't expecting this. A 3rd or 4th standing in LL is entirely possible next season

As long as Koeman is fully in charge I trust him. Even if he won't be a great manager, he has the personality traits to make the tough calls needed in early stages of rebuild.

I can't wait for the new season to begin. But if I see both Suarez and Messi starting again, and walking off the ball moving so little, I'm gonna lose my enthusiasm pretty fast..

We can make an exception for Messi in some cases (with the introduction of new things, like resting him in matches and subbing him when matches are at our discretion). Not for both.

Then let him sulk, he just makes himself look like a twat. many players didn't get their move but still acted professionally.

Alternatively, maybe for you Messi fanboys he might decide to stay once the new board come in

As I said, if this was him going back home to Argentina then leaving on a free is totally fine and respectable but hes joining another European club and not just any club, a rich oil loaded club. I wouldn't say that this situation is what the 'leave for free' contract was for. it was meant to be like the Xavi/Iniesta contract
What part of "he will be 34 next year" dont you people understand? He is too old to stay and wait for rebuild, thats why he wanta out. The guy brought us 34 trophies, not by himself, but any barca fan knows who delivered GOAT performances for this team year in year out. To talk about him like he is fucking Bojan is insulting.

Messi to us is like Sir Alex for Man Utd. That is, he is far bigger then any other individual that has ever had anything to do with a club and they indebted their clubs MASSIVELY.

Would Sir Alex be Sir Alex if not for Utd? Probably not. Would Man Utd go on and rack BILLIONS and 30+ trophies if not for Sir Alex?(including overtaking Liverpool) Fuck no!

They understood it, we dont. Messi indebted this club far, far more then vica versa. This club has one 1CL in hundred years, and 4CLs after Messi. How many Copas and La Ligas before and after? How many sponsporship deals? We were nowhere near top clubs in terms of revenue before Messi, after him nr1.

Realistically looking (how other fans from other clubs are looking) Messi's influence in Barcelonas history is imessurable.

He will be 34 next year, so what? If he plans on using a get-out-free clause (that was obviously meant for when he returned home to Argentina) to join another elite European club (swimming in money no less) for a shot at the CL then he can sulk for the entire season for all i care

This isn't about Barto vs Messi, both come out looking like clowns after this. its about Barca and the future of our club

SAF never shied away from a rebuild or wanted to leave:)

Barca is fucking indebted to Messi. Cant just say "he can fuck off". Again, Messi is our Sir Alex moment. Some of you are forgetting what this club was before him

He is not 25. He will not take his talent and run next decade in another club. He gave his everything to Barca until he was 33, before he asked for transfer req becuase situation is dire from POV of 33yr old player.

He isn't our Sir Alex. hes a player who has been paid obscene amounts of money to play for our football club. He has been given power unlike any other player in history and he has rewarded us with magic, trophies and a great career BUT the club comes first.

Before Messi? this club has had many legendary players and i'd argue Messi, Xavi and Iniesta built upon what Ronaldinho bought to this club under Rijkaard. The club didn't start with Messi and it doesn't end with Messi

He wanted to leave in 2016, sure he didn't hand in a transfer request but the thinking was there. remember the Chelsea thing? don't make out hes suffered his entire career here and we owe him everything. what about paying for his growth injections? defending him for tax evading #WeAreAllMessi ring a bell?

he's on par with cruyff, or a close second. all other players we had are not even close to him when it comes to what it meant for the club. he defined an era. 10 years of being best club in the world, winning trophies like never before in this clubs history.

and he did it with professionalism, in an era that football has reached it's peak level,
