Gaining nothing from it? okay lets put Messi and Barto aside; what do Barca gain from letting Messi leave for FREE to join another top European club? some bullshit 'honor'? Honor isn't going to help us rebuild the squad

look past Barto and look at Barca. we exist when Messi is gone and we exist when Barto is gone
We gain nothing because Messi doesnt have to "deal" with it. He is not on 5yr deal but 9 months, then he can leave for free. If he had 2-3 years left and 25 then sure, pay up or he aill deal with it. With 33 on his back and rebuilding required (without money) he can sulk next year and go for free all while our relationship goes to shit. We are not winning with or without him anyway.

They'll come to an agreement if he truly wants to leave, 70m wages plus a transfer fee for someone who can leave for free in 9 months is too good to turn down and is at the detriment of the club to not accept. I'm just wondering if any of the sponsorship deals we have, have Messi clauses in it. E.g. has to play a certain amount of games or at least be present in the club. Would mean financially speaking selling him doesn't mean much.

No doubt dawg.

Nike letting Messi go to puma?

LMFAO no doubt whatever money we save sponsors will evaporate

It ain't worth it folks

This is where Messi and his supporters are in the wrong to a degree, because while the board is the first responsible, the veterans have a lot of blame for the current state of things as well.

It's a failure on multiple levels by all the major parts involved. Board, managers, main players.

You don't see it do you?

Competent board wouldn't have allowed such a situation. A wc coach wouldn't allowed players to mess with his job. The lack of motivation is a consequence not a cause.
You solve problem by eradicating the cause. Barto & board. Should have been done years ago and it should be no.1 priority at this time.

Otherwise politicians will find a way to bounce back.

Spitting all over Messi is absurd, he should have left years ago or at least force the board to resign.

Imagine being this scared of a shit Real Madrid.

Only reason we lost the league was because of disgusting fraudster Cuckien

Yes, but why did we even get to this point? That's my problem.

We got to this point because of incompetence (this is on the board's side mostly), important limits and boundaries not being respected, and too much compromise being made in areas where there can be none.

Because of all of these things, all the main relations in the team were abnormal and unhealthy. Board - players. Board - manager. Players - manager. In both directions. Now, in the 12th hour, it seems that all the relations are starting to get healthy and properly set again, following clear rules and principles. And we will see results.

But this is too late for players like Messi to reap the benefits from. The benefits for what we do now and in the next year will be seen after 3 more seasons.

Then let him sulk, he just makes himself look like a twat. many players didn't get their move but still acted professionally.

Alternatively, maybe for you Messi fanboys he might decide to stay once the new board come in

As I said, if this was him going back home to Argentina then leaving on a free is totally fine and respectable but hes joining another European club and not just any club, a rich oil loaded club. I wouldn't say that this situation is what the 'leave for free' contract was for. it was meant to be like the Xavi/Iniesta contract

This, that contract clause was meant to be for Argentina and he knows it.

Disgusting to try and take advantage of the club like that unlucky for him we have the power

We can't even rebuild because all attention has been given to Messi now. The consequences of this are massive. Koeman is probably sitting in his house twiddling his thumbs because he has no clue which players he will have and not have next season. Imagine Messi leaves and Suarez is still here? The locker room atmosphere would be very weird, Suarez would probably get in arguments with Koeman blaming Messi's departure on him. Also, I'm sure other players are waiting for Messi's decision to decide if they want to stay here too. All in all, our rebuild is going to shit with this taking so long.

Our team is essentially built around Messi, and lots of people are forgetting that. our tactical setup completely changes if he's gone. I'm sure Koeman wasn't expecting this. A 3rd or 4th standing in LL is entirely possible next season
