Lionel Messi - v7

I didn't want to write anything these last days since the rumours started.

In my opinion, he must leave now. I have said for around two years that once Messi is gone a proper rebuild can start. Did you really thought you could get rid of club de amigo without letting go of Messi?

Also, remember that some of the best games played under Valverde was without Messi. Right now I would accept a bid of 100m, though its sad seeing him leave this way. But it has reached the point of no return IMO.

The thing is, right now, he may stay because the club won't let him leave.

Haven't followed this since the news broke, but Messi has every fucking right to want to leave. Whilst Real were winning three titles in a row, what were the board here doign? It's a shit show right, the Roma debacle was bad, the Liverpool one beyond unnaceptable, but to get humilated by Bayern like that was nothing short of a disgrace.

He's 33, gave his best years to the club, stop being cunts and let him go so he can get the finish to the career that he deserves.

Dont see why this is an issue where need to take sides. There are many nuanced aspects to it and its possible to have a viewpoints that are not extreme one way or the other.

What I think:
- Barto is a f*cking rat and has destroyed this club with Rossell (sorry no nuance there:p)
- Messi genuinely wants to leave. This is not a powerplay to get rid of Barto and the Board.
- His reason for leaving is because there is no future sporting project here, and he is 33. Even if Barto resigns nothing changes. It's got NOTHING to do with his amigos being kicked out ffs.
- Yes he is partly complicit in there being no future sporting project / culture of amigos. But that's in the past now and he can only look at what's ahead of him.
- He prefers the 'plastic' Man City because that's where all the Barcelona exiles are. His introverted character is one where he likes to be surrounded by familiarity, so it makes the most sense to go to a place where the environment is one where he can easily fit into.
- No he definitely should not leave on a free, but neither should we ask for 700m. Best would be to come to some sort of reasonable agreement in the 100-200m range.
- There is no point in Barto trying to keep Messi this year. He will leave for free next year, so best to make some money for the club while its possible. Only thing achieved by keeping him this year is that Barto doesnt get the tag of the president who lost Messi.
- I am genuinely excited/curious to see what a Barca without Messi plays like, and to see others taking on more responsibility. I have a feeling that while we may win less, it may be a more cohesive functional team
- It will be so so sad to see him leave without a proper farewell in front of a full Camp Nou.
- And finally, for everyone badmouthing him, just STOP. He has lit up our lives and our club for the last 15 years in a way that no one could have dreamed of, so would be nice to take a step back and express gratitude, and wish him all the happiness in playing football that he deserves.

Barto doesn't really want to keep Messi, but he wants to look like he does. It's classic political/PR bs.

I can't believe some morons mentions 'Bar?a paid for his treatment'. Who cares? It costed peanuts for them. Plus they have been reimbursed!
What a joke football business is.
They better not mess up the end of career of the player who bring them such prestige, fans, trophies and hundreds of millions of Euros.

'the club is bigger than the player'. Alright but,'Messi's life belongs to him, damn'.

Right Snowy? ;-)
