He is going to make it impossible for teams to sign Messi and stall his departure until he is no longer president. Barto would literally have to move away from Barcelona if he became the president that lost Messi. That’s not ideal for someone that got his whole life based in said city.

this reminds me very closely of the decline of my team. remember when milan was beating everybody every year? now, when was last time you saw us play a champions league match? The combination of the end of a very succesfull era, the hubris that comes with it and a very terrible management can lead to a very steep and quick decline. He didn't win anything with Argentina except Olympic games.
City was 30 points behind Liverpool and are on a decline.
Pep's teams are always falling apart after 3-4 season, both physically, mentally and they start to overthink and play under some sort of pressure (due to Pep's ideas and demanding too much).
A lot of players are tired of him after 3 years.

If you think that a team who was 30 points behind Liverpool in an EPL will suddenly improve with 33 years old Messi who is a tactical mess and doesn't run, nice.

Our fans tend to overrate everyone.

Messi was a GOAT, but he is a mess in the last few years and past it.
He is overrated by our fans.
Don't get me wrong, CR7 is also overrated.

But the same as how while Neymar was here, he was hailed as Messi's successor, the future Ballon D Or, the 2nd best player in the world.
Once when he left, he dropped from being the 2nd best player in the world (in minds of our fans) to being a clown and not a Top15 player in the world.

I am not saying that exactly the same will happen with Messi, but this overrating will surely stop.
If he won't be a gamechanger at City (and I think that he won't), a lot of questions will be raised in the future and people will start to ask whether he, him being a tactical mess, a lack of running, sulking, his weak mental strength, amigo connection, too much power in the club and Messipendencia were one of the reasons for Barca's fall since 2016.

Till now, Messi was our hero and we rated him only through Barca's glasses.
From now on, he will be our former hero and a player who moved on.

You'll see how narrative will change in upcoming years.
Not only because we are salty.
But because it was a sin to say anything (like CR7 was more decisive in CLs, Messi is flopping in CL away matches and similar) which is actually a truth.

La liga as a whole is going to struggle compared to past with or without Messi which is inevitable soon.

The quality is as low as have seen it across the board and the lack of pace/power is dating it a bit.

Barca/Real are not going to have the huge pull as in past and EPL will be very attractive destination with cash across league to back it up.

Next years going to be difficult for la liga teams and can see star played preferring EPL more and more.

We've heard all this before. La Liga is finished blah blah blah.

Ronaldo and Messi were going to leave/retire sooner rather than later.

This season Sevilla won the Europa League and Premier League teams were shit in Europe as usual.

This happens countless times..... and the player always wins. Messi will especially win because he'll have the backing from the majority of the Barcelona fans. Not to mention, it's won't be beneficial. He only has 9 months on his contract, he's 33 and he's on 1m a week. You need to get a realistic fee for him. Barcelona is a business and they still need to be intelligent about this.

Bartomeu will have to move away from Barcelona after all of this in any case. The guy has destroyed this club. He's put the club in a mountain of debt. Messi leaving doesn't change much. People hate him anyway.

Because he's trying to leave on good terms by getting Barcelona a fee for him.... because technically both parties have a case about the contract.
