If anything this can prove to be a massive detriment to him with a shit ton of doubters coming from their cave if he fails to win the EPL with City about how Messi could not do it in 2 leagues etc like cr7.

League title is in the bags for City if Messi joins, lets be honest.
CL will be the big test though.

No it's not. Epl has Liverpool, and every year there are some strong contenders and not to mention even the not so good teams don't roll ever that easily for big clubs.

There is no 'in the bag' if he joins City.

Dont kid yourself, PL is full of cannon fodder just like other leagues.
These bottom-half teams in the PL has gotten so incredible overrated over the years, City and Pool have been smashing team no problems over the years.

There may be a challenger still, yes, but it needs to be above 90 points to challenge a City team with Messi in it, be sure of that.

No there doesn't need to be a 90 points plus kind of team to beat City with Messi in it, you can lose a few matches here and there and be a couple of points behind the 1st. Midtable clubs take away points from you before you know it.

In any case, EPL is not a child's play, much superior to la liga when it comes to competition although I know a lot folks here would disagree with that. Winning isn't neccesarily a given with Messi in the team.

"Comptetitive"? Liverpool essentially won the league in December.
Before you bring it up, good competition for top 4 in Spain too.

It's not as if it will matter for the Messi detractors anyway. Only CL QF/SF/F matter.

City are favourites for the league before Messi even signs.

Liverpool were finding ways to win late in a lot of games they were struggling in and City dominated a lot and missed chances/made defensive mistakes.

In terms of quality the gap in points was a bit misleading.

The quality of teams is defintely better and cant win as many games in EPL last couple seasons that Liverpool and City have without being on it most weeks with players flat out for most of it.

Barca and Real win more games at a slow canter pace than Liverpool and City can week in week out.
