@totcosta | The meeting between Jorge Messi and Bar?a is over. It lasted for around 1 hour and 50 minutes. They presented their views in a friendly atmosphere and will continue to negotiate in the coming days.

It?s better he leaves now and the club can begin to rebuild,, I like how all the old players are leaving (unfortunately Busquets and alba will stay)

I want some city players and some cash for him, preferably Bernardo silva being one of the city players

Messi is treating Covid-19 as a Force majeure, which extends the season. I am no lawyer, and of course, don't know what is written in Messi's contract, but in all commercial contracts I've signed, you have an obligation to inform the other party ASAP when such circumstances appear. Did Messi inform there is a virus preventing his exit from the club?

I know this is far fetched, but this saga is getting boring, so I am just throwing out an idea.

Yeah that has been mentioned before.

If Messi did not ask for the clause to be extended he may not have a leg to stand on.

So he will stay and soak up the wage bill and not put in any work defensively as he will be sulking, great

Nothing stopped him from informing the club that he wanted to leave in April/May. He just didn't do it.

Yeah he almost would have been as well just informing them he wished to leave as could easily change mind after.

It shows he was not even thinking of it back then and more recent changes have caused him to try and revise the clause and force it through.

Now, assuming both Messi and Suarez leaves, and considering the market for good attacking players looks terrible, who is going to score goals next season?
Griezmann is a decent shout, but who else?

If he ends up staying this summer I think he'll retire here

Barto will be gone soon and the new board will probably use Messi staying as a political play to get elected.

Okay...so if Jorge Messi is negotiating his exit and no agreement is reached, then he is still a Barca player.

City will have to pay up the goods.

Or they'll take it to the courts. But most likely they'll reach an agreement on a set fee with Man City, which suits all parties.

🚨 First contacts between Bartomeu and Jorge Messi with very distant positions. No part had changed their posture. The meeting was just over an hour and a half. Negotiations will continue...@Alfremartinezz #FCB ⏳❌🔜

City wont negotiate unless Messi agrees he is a Barca player still and issue of court is removed.

That is the major stumbling block for any of that to progress.

Even then City seem to want him for free or may not be viable.
