Lionel Messi - v7

Tier 0 source Fabrizio Romano saying what we have known for a while. Club not willing to let Messi leave for less than 700M, basically forcing him to stay.

Which is stupid at this point. Why are we forcing unhappy players to stay? We're basically saying Messi is bigger than the club. If he doesn't want to play for the club, just let him go. His head won't be in it next season. Can't believe we're haggling over a 9 month contract, who is 33, who is on 1m a week.

Just negotiate a fucking deal so we get some money for him. He can sign a pre-contract with any club he wants in January anyway.

Still going down the route of 'negotiate with imaginary club' so can say at later date should have sold him.

If City think it is viable they will bid.

omg they denied the clause exists wtfff

That's fine, but he is still under contract until summer 2021, even if release clause does not exists. Which translate to: He can't sign with another club without a permission from FC Barcelona and without FC Barcelona releasing him for free.

So if he wants to leave to another club now, that club must make a bid or wait until next summer.

No FFP has just been delayed and transfers will still count going forward. Chelsea spending has nothing to do with that.

And you think City can't cover Messi's salary and a 100m euro transfer fee? But Chelsea can automatically cover a potentially 250m euros + big salaries?

You dont understand FFP clearly.

Chelsea spending is more to do with large fees they received last summer while had a ban.

City maybe can cover it who knows.

La Liga are doing right thing and clarifying their position on it.

Well, their position doesn't matter.
It is between Messi and Barca, if Messi decided to make a unilateral termination, it is still between club and player with either/both FIFA and Spanish Court involved.
La Liga was the first to make an official public statement, before either player or Barca.
I don't think they are doing right at all. They should stay away from it. Even if they are most affected by it.

It's done

❗Lionel Messi will stay at Barcelona for one more year, and will not take the club of his life to court. [cuatro] https://t.co/EGO4NXh6V5

❗Barcelona are NOT considering to let Messi leave for free or for any fee negotiated with Manchester City. The club's position is still the same: ?700m or Leo will not move. They?re absolutely convinced he?s gonna stay. [@FabrizioRomano]

❗Lionel Messi will not leave Barcelona. [@Chaouali1970]

🚨 ? After the meeting, Bartomeu and Jorge Messi agreed to keep Leo Messi at Barcelona to avoid legal issues. [tyc sports]

They are stating how they read the contract.

Well done to them for clarifying and seem to be correct on it.

Makes little difference at all in scheme of him staying or going.
