Lionel Messi - v7

Glad he stays. Hope he can be convinced at some point during the season to renew and retire here.

If things can settle down within a month then he can be talked round, like with Argentina after he retired.. There'll be a new president next year who will want to keep him and then it's a fresh start for him and the club. Get the toxic Suarez away from him and some of the other old men and it could be okay. Koeman's man management will be key.

Ultimately though if Messi is not going to knuckle down then let him go next year. Ultimately this last month was a long time coming in terms of Messi blowing his fuse, but does he really want to move to Manchester for the next few years with his family? Especially now during a pandemic. At least leave it till next year.

More likely Messi will sign for City in January. Will be counting days to get his own way and not care how impacts rest of season.

Which is his right.

Our understanding: Messi released a statement to make it clear he's staying against his will. He can leave for free but doesn't want to battle the club he loves in court. So, he stays until 2021.

The only source I'm believing from now on is from Messi's party. All these 2nd hand sources have been changing their story every 5 minutes.

I'll wait till Messi officially says he's staying for another year before I believe anyone else.

What is this bs narrative that he's staying now  he literally made a statement saying his contract is void an hour ago and now you really think he suddenly decides to stay after all? There is no way we're ever seeing Messi in a Barcelona shirt again. He's gone, it's just a matter of time.

It doesn't make any sense at this point. Why go through all the effort today to get the lawyers in the office for hours to make a letter and statement about him believing his exit clause still stands but only to agree 30 minutes later that he's staying?

He might as well not put that statement out and just returned to training on Monday.

Hope Koeman has the balls to bench him if he looks disinterested on the pitch.

Guy earns almost 50M and can't even discuss it with his lawyers before sending that burofax wanting to go for free. What a fucking shitshow.

It's been a shitshow! People can do krazy shit when they're pissed off. Leo would really gain by sending his dad to some luxury resort and letting competent pros advise him from now on.

As for the remaining vets, let's just hope they take all this rage to the pitch and use it in combat mode. It's a long shot but it can happen :nuke:

You keep repeating 'it doesnt make sense'.

Maybe to you it doesnt but it is clear why it may have been done this way if cant leave.

How is Barcelona right legally? If the contract says it can be voided at the end of the 2019/2020 season like in Jorge Messi's letter then Messi is correct legally, no?

Messi is legally correct but doesn't want to take it to court where he'd probably win

I believe he just doesn't wanna go on court, regardless if this clause is legit or not.
