I'm not sure why some people are panicking over there possibly being no buyout clause, the vast majority of players in the top leagues do not have one.

The reason why it even exists as a concept is to give players some power when it comes to setting a fee which would allow them to move clubs, because otherwise it is all in the hands of the clubs to decide how much they go for. This is how we lost Neymar, because of that buyout clause, otherwise we would have been able to tell PSG to fuck off.

Messi's buyout clause possibly being removed means that even if Man City theoretically had 700 million available to sign him, we could just be dicks and ask for 1 billion and there's nothing that could be done to stop us.

Cadena Ser is also reporting Messi has no buyout clause in his final year.

I don't believe that. We really don't know who is saying the truth and who is lying here.

If Messi can walk for free why isn't he doing it and why he is asking the club to negotiate his exit?

Nothing makes sense anymore.

No. Now he can walk away for a fee determined by a court. Probably less than 100 million.

Even if he goes for free lets assume he is a highly paid soon to be 34 years old, 20M per year salary and we sold him for 30M

Every player in La Liga must have a buyout clause.

I don't think Messi can walk for free, even if he has no release clause. He still has 1 year remaining on his contract with Barcelona, meaning Barcelona must be compensated if he breaks the contract. But I don't know what the laws are in Spain.

So barto is holding messi to get public support.
Barto forget about his own word.
Messi leave camp nou.
At least we remove barto from the management.
We lost our best player but we also lost the cancer of the club. Fair enough. Let's rebuild.

Lmao the pathetic snake-like behavior here is hilarious. ''HE WANTS TO LEAVE?? BAHH I NEVER LIKED HIM ANYWAY''

Got absolutely nothing to do with him leaving... why would you want someone who is clearly as dense as Messi outside a football pitch running anything in a football club? Come back as an ambassador or something non functional and we'd be all for it.

You have noticed that all these leaks only indicate that he wants to leave for free. He doesn't even want to talk about any sale. Messiah is revealed. It would be over faster, we must move on. And he has success in another club and will never come closer to Barcelona.
