Lionel Messi - v7

We are shooting ourselves in the foot with demanding 700m or else. This hard stance is purely symbolic, I think, just to show that the club and Bartomeu in particular are not looking to let Messi go or to sell him, especially since they are facing pressure from some local fans. However, we all know Messi wants to leave and if we can negotiate for a decent price right now it is better than having him here for another season reluctantly and losing him for free next summer. More importantly, this is distracting us from focusing on preparing for the upcoming season.

Forget about those protesting fans, negotiate with City and let Messi get out of here and we move on ASAP.

It's posturing. Once a big offer comes in the club will happily let him go like Real with Ronaldo.

I think we have to see the good side of the matter.
Selling him (I know, it's so hard to realize it) for 150m now, so we can buy new players and prospects.

Anyway I would like to hear what Leo thinks about all the situation and the reasons that pushed him to have a so hard attitude towards Barca.

Nah, there is no "big offer" coming in, nobody will splash big money on him when they could get him for free next summer.

It is mostly just a silly stance to placate socis and fans who don't want Messi to leave. Bartomeu is more than happy to stay tough so he is not seen as the president who sold Messi. At this point he doesn't care about the future of this club.

Then there's shameless clowns like Neymessi who stan for a player (Neymar) who left us high and dry in his prime but work overtime to suggest that Messi's legacy is ruined at Barcelona after leaving when he's just about finished (2ish top years left) and already contributed 650 goals, 3-4 CL, 10 LL, and 6 Ballon d'Or to the club's rich history.

Deserve to be called out, dawgs.

When I see the goal against Manu in UCL Final 2011 I always have to remember his performance. He destroyed them in a way I have never seen.

Stats, stats, stats fucking hell bunch of robots.

One of Messi best performance for us in a CL tie was against Manchester City in 2015. He barely registered with an asist at home, but home and away he made the likes of Neymar and Suarez look like second rate footballers.against Liverpool last year, he put 3 golden chances on a platter for 3 eunuchs. To limit what Messi does and has done to stats is dumb and anyone who does should be ignored.

In his prime there was no player who demanded more attention than Messi, often being marked man to man and with 2 or 3 other players shadowing him. There wasn't one other player that didn't benefit from Messi garnering so much attention.

Also there is no player out there that hasn't failed. Maradona has failed more than he won and he is regarded as the goat, hell the guy couldn't win CL. He failed as every damn foobtaller in history.

So, is anything actually happening?
All i hear are pretty much the same rumor being recycled over and over.

As for a court case, that can take forever, no chance of that being settled before the transfer window ends.

Not much expected until Wednesday when Messi's father meets with Bartomeu.

Not turning up to training? You can choose sides whether Barto is right or wrong in holding him against his will but you have a contract to fulfill, and if we don't let you leave, you come and train regardless.

Good post. People try and compare him too much with Ronaldo. If Messi doesn't score, he is still capable of being man of the match. If Ronaldo doesn't score, he is anonymous.
