Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi V2

Messi didn't carry the Argentinian team, but he was the heart and soul of the team.
He carried them. They were all invested to make him a WC winner and they fought for him. In today's international football this is huge. Because most players hardly give a fuck about their country anymore as the club money is outrageous.

Messi not only was their best player and man in key moments, but their soul. You won't see something like this in the years to follow.

I mean Birdy went from saying Argentina were a nothing team to saying the opposite now because it does not suit his argument/agenda of Messi being so great lol

Even without Messi, Argentina is still a solid team. Having Messi elevated Argentina as one of the favorites for the WC and Messi is the key player. By the term 'carrying', it discredits the performance of Dibu, Enzo, Alvarez, MacAllister and etc. who also played a key part in the WC wins.

Agree to Disagree.

Some 'relatively average' players Messi 'carried' to a WC: Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis McAllister

That's a reversal of logical order. I am not expecting you to know what this is, but mentioning it for the people that understand

PS: Not going to engage. It's futile with the fanboys. Enjoy your echo chamber
The only thing I care is that this geriatric version of Messi stays the fuck away from Barca next season

No single player carried a team… like ever (Messi in 2018 came close though). Such a nonsensical argument to have.

But Messi dropped a 10/10 tournament.

Compare Argentina's team to Brazil 2002, Spain 2010, Germany 2014, France 2018. There's no comparison. These sides had established world class players all over the pitch. Other than Messi the only proven world class player Argentina had was a 35 year old Di Maria. But after they win it the same people who wrote them off want to say they had an amazing squad. Take Messi out and they would've had no chance at all.

Exactly. Let's be honest, Alvarez, Hernandez and MacAllister were hardly known prior to this tournament. Even now, they are not established players with a big status in football.

Mbappe also carried France in Qatar. They were toothless in attack without him and wouldn't have made the final let alone compete with Argentina in it.

Messi didnt carry anyone. Doesnt work like that. He was their best player but all need those around him to give best chance to win.

Usual with likes of Malovio... if Messi teams lose its all anyone but Messis fault and if they win it is him 'carrying' them.

Frances best player until the final was Griezmann but dont let the truth get in the way. Mbappe did not play well or score/assist in the QF and SF so to make out they only got to the final due to him is just revising history.

Of course, you wouldn't want him proving you wrong again and showing you up again for being the clueless moron that you are

Wow. You just cannot believe what a donkey team that was. Messi was god mode that year, my personal best version of Messi. Maturity, passes, decision making, assists, free kicks, shooting, dribble, every single department of those was his strongest asset. One man army that season, john fucking rambo

Yep, title winning teams (or the ones that get close) usually have a bunch of players stepping up... that 2018 team was just Messi.

Now bing reported Messi is close to accepting Al Hilal offer and they want to sign Alba and Busquets to convince him.

If Barca could save a lare part of that 36m Alba salary it would be ideal.

Still need some kind of star name for kids to buy shirts and get interested. Those younglings are not lining up to get Lewa 9 on back of their shirts.

Lewandowski #9 shirts are hugely popular in Barcelona. Pedri second.
