Poch is not at all a defensive coach. That is a bizarre claim.

He tries to score goals and have the ball. Bielsa being one of his biggest influences.

Spurs at their best gave plenty freedom to Kane, Son, Alli etc.

He wants discipline from his players to follow a tactical way of playing to an extent as all top coaches do but they are always teams in and around top for goals/possession.

What struck me when watching PSG was that Neymar has been underperforming. Messi has already reached good enough form to contribute, Mbapp? has speed and is a threat, but Neymar needs to improve. Almost better to play Di Maria or Draxler than Neymar. Pocchettino will have to manage this situation carefully.

Given his limitations, PSG was the best choice for him now.

No, that was City. His best option was always City. Even at 34, with Pep as a coach and that well drilled team, much better drilled than QSG, he would have dominated Premier League. At QSG,no one gives a fuck about what that team does in Ligue 1, where they play 80% of the games. So practically, Messi is relevant in only a few games per year and Argentina.I really hope this decision will not cost his Balon D'Or this year, it would be a disaster.

Poch is a good manager, but he's a defensive manager at heart, so he'll have issues with teams who are basically built on the back of star players getting a lot of freedom to do their thing. Pochettino is basically the polar opposite of that approach, his teams have hard-working, disciplined players who are often asked to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team. So, how exactly is he gonna achieve that when he has not one, but 3 loose cannons up front who are used to walk all the time and provide lax defending and undisciplined positioning?

He's basically in the situation of EV, with a better team, true, but still a flawed one. He's gonna need a lot of luck to make it work.

This team is not better than the Barca of 2017 Valverde inherited. Also, Poch is not a defensive a coach. The only thing you are right about is that he values discipline alot. He works better with teams that don't have big egos and big stars. He really isn't suited to this PSG.

PSG is much more talented than the team Valverde inherited. People forget how much EV overachieved with the squads he had.

Neymar made runs and passing players, but he seemed isolated and not efficient. Mbappe was like the same, but he upped his performance second half and made threatening run and the one that resulted to goal, although disallowed, was a show of speed. He must be running at 9.5-10 m/s.

It's better to be less relevant than to struggle while in the spotlight. Given Messi's age and lack of ambition atm, he probably wouldn't do that well in PL especially given what the expectations would be.

He's competing for titles with Argentina and is on a team who is among the top 5 contenders for CL  The only one more "sure" of winning the CL than PSG is Bayern. Liverpool, City, Chelsea, and them are on a similar level and any one can win on a given day.

Already has 10 LL, and majority of those were when LL was the strongest league in the world. An EPL with City of all teams would do basically fuck all for his legacy. Sure it's much better than Ligue 1 but inconsequential towards GOAT debates. At THIS point, only CL with another team and WC can add to his CV.

You make it sound like he's playing in MLS or Japan.

True at the beginning not even MSN has worked, i remember when people said those three together will never work. Then the atletico match happened and from M S N it turned to MSN.

Nah those three MSN were in their prime and motivated as ever.

Neymar isnt the same after all his injuries. Messi is old and Mbappe didnt want to stay.

But they will be okay vs Bigger teams in UCL. Bayern they will beat, City they have already shown they can beat ( can go either way), Leaky Liverpool will get anhilated, Chelsea can go either way

City were not the best choice as they did not want him or make a move.

His best choice was PSG.

City were never going to pay big money for Messi when have KDB as their main man creatively. KDB takes up similar areas to Messi while Messi at 34 being asked to play week in week out in EPL then the CL and internationally is big ask to pay him huge wages and break and wage structure for it.

Pep was never signing Messi at 34 for City and to top it all off he wins another CL with Messi....and he 'cant win without Messi'.

Fake news.

Pep said he asked for Messi but Barca told him he isn't for sale at any price so he respected that

while in la liga you could see some teams/players have respect/fear for/of him, in ligue 1 he's being kicked and hacked from day 1.

terrible league to follow, with lots of fouling and play interruptions. or so was my impression when switching over from La Liga/EPL matches.

yeah, they surely wanted him but the run of events didn't go in their favor.
