Productivity for different players happens at different stages.

By that token, I could also argue why Ibra wasn't producing those stats in his 20s and early 30s. Where Messi basically averages 50 goals a season.

Supporting Messi at this stage of his career isn't for you if you're going to have a meltdown/set false expectations over every game he doesn't score in. He only cares about CL and Argentina at this point.

Fully agree with this.

I also expect Messi to only play something like 25 to 28 Ligue 1 games this season, unless he skips Argentina he won't play the next league game either.

 Rassvet really out here expecting Messi to attack Ligue 1 with the ferocity of a CL final.

Relax. No one will care if he scores 50 goals in butcher's league but loses in CL R of 16. Now, if he scores 25 goals all season and wins the CL, it's an instant success.

That team seems quite compact and balanced along with the talent of Leo and Mbappe to make the difference going forward. Neymar and Di Maria can play vs easier teams but that could be our lineup in big CL games.

di maria is a big game player, played worldclass against bayern last season and was one of the best / the best against city

Apart from Messi's goal, MNM were woeful in both CL matches though. With less luck against City, they would be in jeopardy of a group stage exit. I can forgive them chilling in Ligue 1 only if they actually give everything in CL.

if you look closely you will recognize the chemistry of MNM gets better and better so wait until next year before we judge them
