Hell no, City or even Liverpool would tear apart their slow ass mid and attack.

You could say mid lacks some quality, apart from Veratti of course. But otherwise they are pretty athletic and press well.
For attack it's enough that Mbappe is a speed demon. Neymar and Messi will open up the field for him though dribbles and passes.

Goat things

Fabien All?gre (PSG Marketing Director): "With Messi, PSG's commercial income has increased and is expected to exceed 54% of the club's total income with his presence."

What's your point? To not hold him to the high standards of other players? Then why even nominate him for balon d'or?

What's your point? He won Ballon d'Or for his performances during the last season and Copa america and not this one. He for sure won't win it again unless he wins World Cup in December which I doubt he can. I seriously can't comprehend some of you.

First, you don't have to love him but if you are a Barca fan you need to show some respect towards the biggest legend of this club. He brought us so much joy. Does that mean we need to praise him when he plays badly? Hell no, but we definitely need to lower our expectations. For a 35y old player he played a good game yesterday. He was definitely much better than Messi from Ligue 1. Saying that he was pure shit or that he had a horrible game is definitely not true.

Second, I don't know how old you are but at the age of 35 no one can perform like they did when they were 25y old. Just look how disastrous Modric looked yesterday in comparison to Verratti. Is Verratti a better player than Luka was at the age of 29? For sure not, but he is much better than 36y old Luka. Same goes for "Mbappe and Messi" comparison or any other "old" player.

Anyone who expects that a 35y old Messi or 37y old Ronaldo or for example 35y old Pique can perform like they did 4 or 5 years ago is just trolling or has a seriously twisted view of reality.

Messi will probably play his last season next year and I don't think anyone can realistically expect that he will return to his best level anymore. That doesn't mean that he won't play a good game every now and than but he for sure won't be able to win games on his own like he did many times in the past. IMHO Messi is the first one who needs to accept the fact that he lost his speed and composure in duels and he needs to concentrate more on playmaking than scoring goals during this period of his career.

Age has just made him human.

Never took part of discussions in his thread since he left because I really wanted to move on, but imo yesterday was his average CL knockout performance from what we've seen already in last 2 years. The vision is still there as you could see in the chances he created, but he just can't keep up physically on that level anymore. Times of him beating players for fun are gone. He never was a running machine, but age made it worse. The missed penalty ruined an overall quite decent performance by him. Of course nowhere near prime/peak Messi, but who would've expected that?

Given the rumoured salary it was the right move to let him go. Hurtful for everyone involved, yes, but the right moment.

I seriously think he doesn't give two fucks about PSG. Compare his and Verratti's reaction to Mbappe's goal:

Might be that he just lost motivation, but I don't think he is happy there. Guess what happened in summer broke something inside of him.

100% agree on this. IMHO he is only waiting for the WC in Qatar and he'll retire after that.

Nah, he'll join his amigo Suarez in Miami for a year or two.

Well that's in Florida, where all retirees go to spend their quiet days. Joking aside I don't think he'll do that, his family will probably prefer to go back to Barcelona after he finishes his career in Paris in 2023.

He spent last summer there with his family and they've liked it. Also owns a luxury apartment in Miami although has apparently put it up for sale (doesn't mean he can't/won't buy even a better one though) so I guess we'll see.

Could also see them moving back to Argentina once his career is over.

Regardless of where he'll go I'm sure Suarez won't be far away. :D

i don't get the whole discussion around messi's reaction to mbappe's goal. he goes over to celebrate along his other team mates, what's so strange about it? veratti just drops on the pitch.

Usually Messi is a guy who celebrates directly if a team mate scores an important goal, that's why the reaction from him was strange. He was probably still angry about the pen miss.
