Serious question for Messi fans here:
Do you think Messi and Ronaldo would have been as good without one another?
I always thought they both drove each other on to break barriers of statistics and longevity.
Without that motivation they'd be 75% of what they are
Messi's 2018-2019 CL effort was definitely in response to the RM/CR7 CLs.
But his years under Guardiola, he just loved playing football, and he was a level above anybody else (best goalscorer, near best playmaker, easily best dribbler/1 on 1 ability, easily best acceleration on the ball). So I don't think that changes much.
14-15 was his revenge reason for the WC, so I don't think CR7 played a big part in that.
CR7's CL and Ballon D'Or push between 2014 and 2018, though, was definitely influenced by Messi.
Anyone else find it odd that Messi and Ronaldo have never even taken a slight dig towards one another.
Here you have Benzema's ego getting hurt by Giroud in 1 week and calling a Go Kart and shit.
There seems to be a lot of mutual respect between Messi and Ronaldo. Definition of healthy competition. Never seen any animosity there.
It's always funny to me because their fanboys are always spewing vitriol on each other.
Ronaldo has taken digs at messi during man u time and very early Real era.
Remind me. What did he say??
Ronaldo has taken digs at messi during man u time and very early Real era.
Yeah, also tried to bait him with those comments about joining him in Italy to prove himself in other leagues.
Messi doesn't know much else aside from BBQ with friends and the usual Ibiza vacation.
