One of my favourite Messi goals. So smooth. It's like once he started the run, his adrenaline helped him instinctively beat every player one by one. Unreal goal.

Messi in La Liga was like 80% of our output. He had numerous performances that won us games. You just needed a good support cast for him to get us over the line, in most years.
When he had a great support cast we also dominated in Europe.
Of course Messi couldn't do it alone. It's one thing to have telepathic understanding with the best RB ever in Dani Alves and another thing having Semedo as RB partner.
Well you see you are right.
Barca would have won a lot of trophies with that team even without messi.
Messi needed that Barca than Barca needed Messi.
Messi just made it look better.
As I mentioned he is a win more player
If team is awesome he makes it even more awesome
If team is doing bad he just makes it a lot more worse.
My point is that Barca didn?t need to be in the situation we are currently in because of the outrageous contracts to Messi and Friends.
Agree to an extent but imo even calling his Prime Barca teammates "support cast" is very disrespectful.
That support cast(without Alves) won a WC and 2 Euros.
Xavi, Iniesta and Busi have wanked themselves silly many a times at the greatness of Messi. They know their place in the hierarchy. And I've mainly used the term in order to focus on Messi's output and how bad we handled our squad that he ended up with Griezmann and Braithwaite as attack partners.
Messi is a GOAT level player and obviously better than those players but they were just as crucial to the famous Prime Barca system and it's success as Messi was. We saw how killer those players were for Spain nt with a similar philosophy.

Messi's departure really brought out the worst in a lot of barca fans. The things I've been reading in here ...yikes.
Messi was the best of all of them but in a way that he could be the best player in 4 games out of ten Xavi/Iniesta 2/3 times out of ten etc in those peak sides.
But overall Messi was the cherry on cake.
Being the best of that bunch and being the one who is at cutting edge of park he would always get the biggest headlines.
Current Messi would have prime Xavi over in how big a difference could make to a team struggling for identity.
Jordan and late Kobe were captains of the team with elite attitude. Never stopped running, never stopped marking until the last day on the team.
I would not put Messi in same league as these players attitude and leadership wise.
W.r.t to talent there is no denying Messi?s talent only he could do some of things he does.
Dribbling , Shooting, Freekicks - Prime Messi, with Maradona close or almost same. Like Mourinho said ? He is like a good porn movie? . I don?t know if that statement is true. 😂😂
Tactics, Influence , Leadership - Johan Cryuff
So yeah Messi would be right up there in terms of technical skills.
