PSG actually played RM the best compared to the EPL top 3 (except for maybe City who were tremendously wasteful 1st leg. But City were very timid 2nd leg).

The elimination looked bad but in retrospect it's not really that bad considering how RM then also beat Chelsea, City, and Pool.

Financially maybe but certainly not sporting wise

Definitely worked sporting wise.

Easier league, league title, can cruise it and be fresher for Argentina.

Barca were not going to be anything better for him other than all playing for him to score some more goals.

Ticked all boxes in comparison to what Barca offers.

Will be seen as failure in some ways if dont win CL but what was the alternative at Barca?

Liverpool was one game so difficult to compare, but Chelsea and City were clearly better sides than PSG i think.

Madrid aren’t a bad matchup for PSG with their approach. PSG running them close doesn’t mean they are up there with the best teams in Europe.

Barca with everyone fit could give Madrid close to a 50-50 tie as well but aren’t close to being CL contenders.

How can it work sporting wise when it has got worst out of Messi? Messi was playing very well at Barca.

Also at PSG it's CL or bust mentality which is why him and pals got booed by the matchgoing fans.

Also PSG has taken a toll on Messi's in game sharpness which can affect him for Argentina also.

For reasons said.. his time at Barca was done and had no chance of CL. He has better chance at PSG and can cruise league save for Argentina

Was time for a change for Messi and Barca.

Think they have chance next season if egos dont get in way.. granted that may be a big if.

Cruising to French league titles won't do anything for Messi when he is performing so poorly.

It was time for Barca to move on but that doesn't mean that this move has worked well for Messi.

That's like saying Madrid move has worked well for Hazard because he has Spanish league titles and CL now.

At PSG, Messi isn't the top dog and Messi needs to be the top dog to be at his best. The system needs to suit Messi

These trophy focussed points don't make sense. It all depends on the contribution in that triumph. Lukaku has a CL title for Chelsea from years back btw.

For me being in PSG now is a better place from sporting perspective than current Barca by a long way for Messi.

Has the chance to it heights wouldnt at this Barca and maybe get another CL and few more trophies to be most decorated player ever all while crusing it and saving for Argies before xmas.

If they fails to win CL it will be seen as failed move initially but has chances and bigger upside.

Was right move for him and club.

I agree that on paper PSG looks better suited given the age and stage of his career.

But my point is it hasn't turned out as well for Messi the individual.

The alternative at Barca would have been a better version of Ronaldo at United with Messi still putting up good numbers and performances on a big stage in front of adoring fans albeit not in a top team. With Messi's PR, he would probably still be talked about as one of the best in the world with all the blame going to his teammates and Barca as a club for failing him in not giving him enough help.

It wouldn't have been ideal but certainly much better than what he has had at PSG where he's not liked by fans, gets little spotlight, can't use lack of help as an excuse, and has shown that Barca benefitted him more than thought.

Dont agree.

Messi at Barca would be frustraated and not adding much to his legacy. Has better chance of that at PSG and to take time he wants for Argentina.

Agree to disagree.

It'll always be a blot on his CV that when he did move to a different league: a vastly inferior league nonetheless, he looked half the player.

Compare that to the romanticism attached to being a one club man...
