PSG won't do shit in the CL next season.
We shall see.
PSG won't do shit in the CL next season.
Move has worked well for him.
Financially maybe but certainly not sporting wise
PSG actually played RM the best compared to the EPL top 3 (except for maybe City who were tremendously wasteful 1st leg. But City were very timid 2nd leg).
The elimination looked bad but in retrospect it's not really that bad considering how RM then also beat Chelsea, City, and Pool.
How can it work sporting wise when it has got worst out of Messi? Messi was playing very well at Barca.
Also at PSG it's CL or bust mentality which is why him and pals got booed by the matchgoing fans.
Also PSG has taken a toll on Messi's in game sharpness which can affect him for Argentina also.
For reasons said.. his time at Barca was done and had no chance of CL. He has better chance at PSG and can cruise league save for Argentina
Was time for a change for Messi and Barca.
Definitely worked sporting wise.
Easier league, league title, can cruise it and be fresher for Argentina.
Barca were not going to be anything better for him other than all playing for him to score some more goals.
Ticked all boxes in comparison to what Barca offers.
Will be seen as failure in some ways if dont win CL but what was the alternative at Barca?
I agree that on paper PSG looks better suited given the age and stage of his career.
But my point is it hasn't turned out as well for Messi the individual.
The alternative at Barca would have been a better version of Ronaldo at United with Messi still putting up good numbers and performances on a big stage in front of adoring fans albeit not in a top team. With Messi's PR, he would probably still be talked about as one of the best in the world with all the blame going to his teammates and Barca as a club for failing him in not giving him enough help.
It wouldn't have been ideal but certainly much better than what he has had at PSG where he's not liked by fans, gets little spotlight, can't use lack of help as an excuse, and has shown that Barca benefitted him more than thought.
