strange signing is rickie lambert, he's not good enough for a top 4 team, if united or chelsea had signed him liverpool fans would be laughing and asking why...

If those clubs signed him as there No.1 or No.2 striker then yes. But they wouldn't and we aren't going to. Cheap upgrade on Aspas plus proven goalscorer at this level plus will settle for his role at the club and will fight for us on the pitch. I mean what's not to like.

He is basically for free when you think we will sell Aspas for a similar amount.

well if suarez or sturridge get injured for a long period then lambert will be starting a lot of games, so he needs to be good enough to start games for liverpool which i don't think he is. labeling a new signing with the back up tag suggests that you don't think he's good enough and that your hoping he won't have to play much, swapping aspas for lambert doesn't strengthen the squad a great deal. he doesn't exactly fit liverpool's style of play either, liverpool like to counter attack with great pace and lambert is very slow...

i don't see how anyone can talk about 'not top 4 quialty'. what's that gotta do with anything? what's top 4 quialty anyway? welbeck? cleverly? rafael?. if sturridge or suarez is injured i'd much rather have lambert coming on then aspas, simple as, its a step forward for the squad.

what team in the league (other than city) has a better goalscorer coming off the bench?

If we had unlimited funds like Chelsea or City or we had £100m to spend like utd then yes we could spend more on a striker but the funds that we do have need to go on areas to strengthen the first team.

If one of Sturridge or Suarez is injured then it would be a huge blow of course however Sterling can play up top along with Lambert plus our other potential attacking signings i.e. Lallana.

Rickie Lambert is a good signing, nuff said.

Dunno why everybody is trying to downplay it. A good striker who will give 100% and will score goals.

I'm told, as it stands, Lallana favours move to #LFC over other options. Liverpool aware of others. Want to get deal done

Brendan Rodgers also hopeful of signing Alberto Moreno, Dejan Lovren and Emre Can in the next fortnight

southampton fans must be hating us right now.
