Well at least with Bertrand it will be only 6-7m and in 12-18 months we'll sell him to some mid table club for around half that fee so in that respect we'll only lose 3-4m on him.

Long term injury so he won't be match fit before Christmas probably. He should return around September/October but he'll take a good 3-4 months to regain proper match fitness again.

Ah, I see.

If you guys want a starting LB and are willing to pay a bit then Ricardo Rodriguez would be a great choice IMO. Younger than Bertrand and could be starting LB for many years to come. Had a great season in Bundesliga and was good in the WC. Think a big club will snap him up soon.

meh.

so underwhelming.

Bertrand?! seriously?!

back in the CL after 5-6 years in the wilderness and the best they can come up with during the first summer transfer window where Liverpool may seem like a very tempting destination for a top player again is the three L's from Southampton, Can & Bertrand?!

just pay the 20m for Moreno you cheap fucks! he is one of the top 3 LB prospects in world football and in this current market that's a pretty reasonable price considering you'd get a top LB for the next 10 years if he avoids serious injury. Bertrand is just a stop gap, a small time mid-table club signing, nowhere near good enough for a CL squad, he should be at Aston Villa. waste of 6m.

i think it is silly to expect liverpool to be able to attract top players because of one top 4 finish, there best player who was pivotal to them last season is leaving and the likes of can, lambert, lallana, bertrand are not signings that will have top players turning there heads. as you said yourself, back in the CL after 5-6 years in the wilderness, top players are not suddenly going to be queuing up to sign for them, sanchez will turn them down in my opinion.

of course Alexis will turn Liverpool down. he's off to Arsenal to win the Emirates cup and enjoy a guaranteed 4th place finish.

Liverpool are still one of the best supported teams around the world and have won the European cup more than any other British team. i don't expect Messi, Neymar, CR7 etc to want to go there but after the season they had and able to offer CL football again i would expect better than who has been signed so far. they could have signed Lambert, Lallana, Can etc without CL. it's just poor scouting/management/decision making rather than Liverpool not being a respected and desirable destination IMO.
