I kind of disagree, I honestly believe we are better than Madrid.

I think a fair way to judge this would have been if we faced Madrid without having to play City midweek.

Madrid had much more rest than our team did, yet we were able to keep them at bay (despite being extremely complacent) and gain momentum until we eventually dominated them in the second half. It was very obvious that key players like Messi, Rakitic and Masch were suffering from fatigue.

As a team, Barca are clearly superior and have a much higher drive than Madrid at the moment, imo.

You make some valid points there.

I would also add that in recent weeks/months, we have played countless of tough games and have won them all! Not even during the most glorious period of Pep did we have such results. On the other hand, Real Madrid has been gush since the beginning of the year and played less big games (and less games in general) and has lost much more than we did. So, it was only natural that they were more fresh than we were in the first half. By the 2nd half, Real Madrid started running out of gas and we took the reins of the game. Only some poor decision making by the MSN saved Real from a disastrous scoreline.

We've only lost twice and have won all our games other than that since the start of the year right?

I told you guys in the chat during the break that we would win 2-1.:lucho:

A poor game overall though. The first 30 minutes were mediocre while the remaining 15 minutes of the first half were abysmal. The second half was much better but the team, especially Neymar, wasted far too many opportunities.

Now RM are better head to head. If both teams end the league with the equal amount of points then RM will win the league just like they did back in the 2006-07 season when the two teams finished their respective seasons with the equal amount of points.

Our midfield was poor today, especially in the first half. Rakitic was invincible and had a bad game while Mascherano offered little in terms of ball circulation. Busquets was missed a lot. It was better when Busquets and Xavi were subbed on.

Overall a strange game. I can't even pinpoint a man of the match. If anything that honor should be given to Mathieu of all people. A player that I personally was worried about before the game.

If we win the next 5 league games (Celta away, Almería at home, Sevilla away, Valencia at home and Espanyol away) then I believe that we will win the league.

A hard fought victory and sometimes those taste better than "straightforward wins".

Anyway imagine for a second if we had a player like Verratti today.

I think our major problem today was that the team was stretched too much. There was quite some distance between the forwards and the defenders, and Real had an easy time passing through us in the first half. After the formation change they did (4-3-3 --> 4-4-2) we fared much better. Lucho did the wise thing by subbing in midfielders to make us more compact. Later on, we actually had total midfield control and we didn't concede chances anymore.

We were lucky in the first half, but we should've scored more after Suárez's goal. Our attackers shouldn't have been this selfish.

Mateu Lahoz was a vicious actor. He failed (delebrately) to wistle some blatant fouls.Carvajal should've been sent off, and some tacles on Messi and Neymar were just ignored.CR should've been handed a 2nd yellow for his unjustified kick on Mascherano. It was obvious that Lahoz was giving us less important fouls and denying the decesive ones which required cards. We needed the 3 points and against the odds we got them ! Visca Barca :mathieu::suarez:

Game of two halves.

Real could of scored first if Ronaldo didn't hit the post. Then their offside goal was really close.

We then scored a set piece and could o gone 2 up with ney missing that sitter. That play directly led to Real tying.

Second half all changed with our goal and Messi moving more central as Marcelo was doing a great job in the first.

Just glad to win and go 4 pts up! Huge morale Booster.

We've only lost twice and have won all our games other than that since the start of the year right?

In 2015 we only lost to Real Sociedad and Malaga. Everyone else, we defeated!

In our last 7 games against CL-level opponents, we have 7 victories. (Atletico x3, Man City x2, PSG x1 and Real Madrid x1)

To be quite honest the only thing that pissed me off during the game was Neymar's nonchalance and chance wasting, mostly because instead of going 2:0 we conceded instantly and instead of clinching the game in the second half we could have conceded.

Otherwise,i'm delighted by the team, they fought, they played their hearts out and most importantly, they won.The three points are all that matter. If's and But's are for the losing team.
