lolll people neglecting that Setien is STARTING Ansu and called up Riqui Puig on his first match here.

Already miles ahead of Valverde.

Eder Sarabia (assistant coach): "We had alternatives, but we think this lineup is the best for today."

Did he never watch them play before being appointed as Barca manager?

Well this is my point, has he selected on the principle of "who they are", rather than what they are now. He's only been in the job a few days and the reality is 2 of the 3 would've had to feature regardless. Arthur has been out a long time, needs to be eased back into action. Puig has never started a La Liga game and needs to be bedded in with 20/30 minute appearances first.

Suarez, Dembele injured, Valverde would start Fati/Perez himself... Or maybe Roberto on the wing, whatever I don't even want to remember that shit.

Fucking Rakitic still somehow finds his way into this squad, we will never get rid of him, bring back Arda.

Wouldn't read a lot into that midfield. De Jong suspended, Arthur only just back. Would have risked upsetting squad to go bold & throw Riqui Puig in ahead of Vidal/Rakitic straight away... however tempted he may have been.
And I always said, It's not all about the players, it's more about the total lack of idea/system which made our team look so boring. Now we'll see the difference in actually having a coach who's taking the time to train and teach the players new things, you know, actually improving them. And I'm sure even the most boring midfield in the world will look a lot better in Setien's system than in Valverde's lack of one. I'm also sure if Arthur and De Jong stay fit, and Puig takes his chance this season, this is the first and last time we'll see this midfield under Setien, as circumstantial as it is, tonight a lot had to come together to see this midfield.

Also, putting in Fati and giving him ball to feet non-stop ain't doing him any favors. Let's see how Fati will be played.

This forum is great. :rofl1:

Oh, pipe down you petulant tossers. I might end up becoming one of Quique's biggest "apologists" by the season's end after taking a gander at some of the bed-wetting, hysterical children on here.
