Wouldn't read a lot into that midfield. De Jong suspended, Arthur only just back. Would have risked upsetting squad to go bold & throw Riqui Puig in ahead of Vidal/Rakitic straight away... however tempted he may have been.
And I always said, It's not all about the players, it's more about the total lack of idea/system which made our team look so boring. Now we'll see the difference in actually having a coach who's taking the time to train and teach the players new things, you know, actually improving them. And I'm sure even the most boring midfield in the world will look a lot better in Setien's system than in Valverde's lack of one. I'm also sure if Arthur and De Jong stay fit, and Puig takes his chance this season, this is the first and last time we'll see this midfield under Setien, as circumstantial as it is, tonight a lot had to come together to see this midfield.
