That was messi's decision btw, not lucho's.

Than we can fire Lucho and buy a better forward backup for the money - I mean, if Messi decides everything anyway. We can actually save even more money if we also fire all the coaches, sports directors and scouts since Messi probably decides who we sign, who we let go, how we play and how we train etc.

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??

I don't know why you got defensive, I didn't say something controversial, just stated a fact.
Suarez said in an interview, last season, that messi told him to play in the center in a game and then they kept doing it.

Why not move Suarez to rw, then? Or Neymar, with Suarez as lw. The way it was setup, there was a void in the right. Makes it easy for the opposing team to defend. And it's clearly not working.

Suarez should only be no9. Why would you move the best striker in the world in the wing?

Sry, I just feel that you're irrationally Messi biased - like you're defending everything he says or does in every thread.

Messi didnt make the decision for Suarez to play in the centre.

The front players had been rotating positions a lot and in one game Messi said to Suarez to stay at CF for longer.

Lucho made the decision to stick with it after seeing it worked.

Happens all the time that players make suggestion to each other on the pitch or a player playing a certain way changing a managers opinion.

Because Messi won't go to rw, for whatever reason. Messi should go back there, but if he's not for being tired, at least put someone at rw. Resting him in a 1/4 CL match would never happen, anyway.

We had Alves occupying the RW spot now, because he didn't have Ronaldo to worry about, and he was MotM for me. Alves and his great crosses on the night should have provided 3 goals for us. Neymar alone missed two fairly easy headers.

This time it wasn't such a big problem for me that Messi wasn't RW, because we used that position to great effect. It's what got us the win in the first place.

A big problem is when Alves has a super-dangerous opponent he has to take care of. Being with 11 vs 10 he could bomb forward for all of the 2nd half and he did it great.

Because Torres was sent off, and the 2nd half was pretty much attack vs defense. I'm not sure how it'd been with Torres in the pitch.

Yea, true, but in the beginning of the match, Messi started at RW it seemed. Maybe he drifted more in the center once Torres was red carded, in order to allow Alves to go up.

It's hard to draw a conclusion based on this match, because Torres was sent off relatively early.

Love this Lucho! Learned from his mistakes and lack of subs vs Real.

Rafinha, Roberto and Arda all on boom! We seemed so fresh when they came in. Having Rafinha back is a great thing because he can play up front too.

Dem cojones to position Pique and Mascherano almost in the final third :worthy: :worthy:

Still scratching my head over Enrique's subs.

Was Rakitic out of juice (again) that he had to get off so early, and why bring Rafinha for the first time after his injury in such an important match?

It didn't really backfire yesterday, Rafinha played decent enough considering what you could expect from him and we were even lucky enough to get another goal in after the sub.
But our best phase by huge margin had been the first 18 minutes in the second half right until the equalizer and first sub.
Thereafter our pressure went down again somewhat and we couldn't create nearly as many chances in the rest of that half.
