His fee was bigger than arthur, lenglet or vidal's and his wages are higher than all but the experienced vet vidal. Then you factor he was the one player another fairly big club was distraught we came in late for before they closed the deal--so yeah was the most buzz producing signing last summer.

Of course we need patience, but i'd also take a 45-50 mil offer in july if it came. Just have to wait and see.

Fee was 40m, same as Arthur. Lenglet was 36m. He's a right forward, Messi's position, and there didnt seem to be any strategy behind the signing. Just overall very odd. I do agree that it created buzz when we signed him right in front of Roma, which makes the signing even stranger.

If the younger players are better or at least equal to older players they play. Just look at Dembele, Lenglet and Arthur's minutes.

Dembele had plenty of performances where he looked absolutely clueless - much worse than Malcom's ever looked. Gradual build of confidence through consistent minutes and expression of trust from the staff is what changed him.

Arthur's cost is 32.8m euros fixed and 10m euros "add-ons", which like most add-ons are just there to ensure we comply with FFP (for example, one of the add-ons was to be paid when he played 10 games for us). Total price is thus 42.8m euros.

Malcoms wages are also just under 100week and arthurs 68.

So yeah malcom was the biggest move financially (yes it is very close to 2 others) and most hyped move (the roma thing) this offseason.

I will arthur was the biggest steal, even if he makes all the variables and it is 40. Not quite as big of steal as i thought.

I am not saying write malcom off by any stretch, he might work out, but if we could get a profit and his wages off id take it. Right now dembele and coutinho are better and he should not take minutes from them unless they need a rest or the match isn't in the balance.

And by the way i dont agree he showed elements we saw with dembele. Dembele was lost but his ankle breaking athleticism and individual skill was obvious.

dembele is a unique talent, malcom is a standard one.

he can still be a good squad player, but he needs to improve soon.

I dont understand what you mean by "fc barca says and transfer market says". We paid several million extra to fast-track Arthur into the team (he was meant to be a January signing when the Brazilian league had ended) and we also paid four million euros for our preferential option on him before we signed him.

But I dont see the point in arguing about this any more. Its odd to attack Malcom as the "biggest signing" when he basically cost the same as the two other signings and is seen as a Messi backup. Roma move means nothing really.

There is a reason Malcom cost only 40m and Dembele 145m.

Fair enough, your right not to quibble these 3 deals are all in the same ballpark.

That said, just being young and new doesn't mean you don't play, see Dembele, or your are correct the more apt comparisons (based on the financials involved) are Lenglet or Arthur.

Of the 3 young 40mil-ish signings he is the one with the largest wage (by a good bit) and the one not playing, it is most likely because he hasn't been as good in training as other alternatives (including Rafina pre injury and Munir). The time he has played he hasn't look the part of a difference maker, I recognize this is a very limited sample. Not saying he is a "bust" but nor I am impressed to date (as confident of him becoming a Barca quality regular) nor feel in anyway there is youth/newness bias or that he is unfairly treated in why he isn't playing more. Not saying these are all your arguments but they are various ones in this thread.

I havent used any of those arguments, that is true. The argument I have used is that he is a right forward. He is also a support forward but we dont play with those. Messi is our right forward. Malcom will always have very limited playing time as long as he can only play when Messi is out (and we have two superstar signings up front costing us 300m as well who have to play). He cant play striker or left forward. He should leave. There is no room for him.

sadly his chances are over until we secure la liga. then maybe he can play in meaningless liga matches at end.........

second sub is cou/dembele in attack

maybe malcom can be final timewasting sub in last 5 mins..........
