Mario Giunta: Monchi has been working all night to unblock the situation. All that's waited for is Bordeaux's response. Malcom and his agents are in France (and Roma remains their desired destination). New developments are awaited

If he goes to Roma we will definitely look like the BIGGEST MORONS ever. We acted like real pricks here and if we fail to sign him it will be another embarrassing moment created by our management.

Why would this be embarassing for us? If we get him good, if not, fair play to Malcom to stick with his original commitment to Roma. It's not the first nor the last time a club has tried to hijack transfer in last minute. Bordeaux is the club looking bad here but they won't care about that if they'll get more millions whether from Roma or Barça.

I have clicked other forums now, and his story looked like this

1. He had some unprofessional behavior at Bordeaux during season
2. Inter came for him in June
3. Malcom agreed terms with Inter and didn't show up on a training at Bordeaux on July 1st
4. He posted a video on Instagram, forcing Bordeaux to sell him to Inter
5. Valencia entered a race
6. Malcom rejected Valencia and said: I only want Inter
7. He should have done a medical at Inter on July 4th
8. Bordeaux wanted 40m from Inter, but Inter offered 8m loan plus 32m obligatory option
9. Everton entered the race, but pulled off
10. Fulham entered the race, but pulled off
11. Roma entered a race
12. Bordeaux and Roma agreed a transfer
13. Malcom wanted to go to Roma, clubs announced a deal on their pages, but not everything was 100% done
14. Barcelona entered a race
15. Nobody knows what will happen

Inter fans weren't too impressed by him. Lot of guys said that he is just a talent who probably won't make it at Serie A.

I would like to see him in Barcelona...There is a lot of matches in season.
Dembele can play on LW what he has shown few times like vs Italy.
Malcom RW and Messi on ST.

I am just satisfied that we will not buy Willian.

Just buy someone young and talented.

Sounds promising

I don't share the opinion of majority here I would much rather have Willian for 40 mil than this guy. Too bad Chelsea wants much more. Some people here are excited about a 21y old guy and nobody knows anything about him. It makes sense...NOT!

Yeah, it makes sense to play Dembele out of position so Malcom can play as a RW.

Have you watched him enough to know it's not a good move? I haven't, not excited but the deal is fun as hell.

Since Willian for 4o is not even an option, it's pointless to bring that up.

If you want to play both yes.

If we are gonna be real Dembele is huge waste money if he have one more season like that.
He just losses ball to much.

This is classic reaction of fans when they don't get a player they want. Most of them probably didn't even watch Malcom play. Of course they could be right but I will trust Monchi's evaluation over fans opinions. If he's willing to pay 35-40M (which is very big money for a club like Roma even after they got 75M for Alisson) it means he sees something special. Monchi is not always right but his track record back to his Sevilla days is very good. Malcom could turn out great for Roma or Barça. Maybe he'd be great in Roma (so Monchi's evaluation of him would be correct) but won't be as great here (if we get him). Or maybe he'll fail in whichever club he'll sign with. We just don't know. It's a gamble but so is every (big money) transfer. We could easier afford to "throw away" 40M than Roma though so from our standpoint financial risk is lower.

Lots of fans were cautious even way before Roma even entered.
It seems that people on their forum are less infected with Barcaforum's "he is young and has potential" virus.

I thought that the whole football's fanbase in suffering from that virus, but I guess that I was wrong.
Anyway, you can read about him here and how a story developed, plus you will get more info from guys who actually watched some matches, unlike us who know him only from a football manager where he develops extremely good
