Made 87 key passes last season. Same as Messi.

Edit: This set of data also highlights just how much better Messi is than everyone else. FFS, nobody even comes close.

Porto, Roma, Ajax, Dortmund, Monaco, the point of those clubs is to scout all the time, buy 10 youngsters each season, re sell them after 2 seasons to some bigger club.
Those youngsters wouldn't have developed in a big team.

Last 4 out 5 CLs for: hardworking teams with awesome technique.

95% of the players that team have bought in the last 10 years have been 24 yrs old or younger...

I had no problem with a proven player who can contribute immediately that's right, but if you are buying new talented RW for the next 7-8 years and already have one on that position it would be logical decision to go for LW. Wouldn't you agree???

Then why even bring the "2 RW" point in this argument? So all of a sudden we will have too many right wingers and not enough left wingers but before with the Willian rumors we had plenty LWs? Never heard a peep that it isn't logical then.

For me, personally, he doesn't bring so much more than Dembele to justify his transfer. With a proper pre-season and not being hindered by injuries, Dembele will be better than Willian in half a year imo. If you rate Willian as so much better then fair enough but I don't.

EDIT: As for Malcolm, I haven't seen shit but apparently he's a good talented player with room to grow. In the worst case if he doesn't confirm, we can sell him for a reasonable fee at least as other teams know about him. Without shady shenenigans with the Chinese we would be stuck 5 years with Willain on high wages. Wages are already a problem for us.

Let's take a second...

1. Probably noone here has seen enough of him, all we can do is assume he's either gonna be a success or a flop, based on one's affinity. Each talent should be evaluated individually, that doesn't mean we ought to buy everyone available, on the contraty. For 40m, highly rated youngster with some Europan experience is potentially a good shout. That said, I don't know much, if anything about him.

2. Why bother with starting XI? Of course our attacking 5 (Messi, Suarez, Coutinho, Dembele, Malcom) is not gonna play together. Ever. But gives you much-needed width. We play 70 games a season after all. Good rotational policy is a must. Such width will give Messi/Suarez some rest, maybe enable them to press when needed. Not that Suarez has never done that.

3. What euphoria/excitement are some of you talking about? People are calm, nobody knows much, some like the path we are headed, others don't... All we can do is wait.

If we get him that means Mina is definitely out, right?

There were reports Coutinho has gotten a European passport. But probably out.

BBZ8800, Interesting post. It is near to my line of thinking on the transfer hierarchy, except that Bordeaux as a top 6 Ligue1 side is an Step 2 to 4 move.

Malcom's progression is 2 complete seasons in Ligue 1 (Dembele only had 1), after almost 4,000 minutes in the Brazilian Serie A before the age of 20.

Roma is a better team than Bordeaux obviously, but let us not kid ourselves that this is an inexperienced 21 year old. This is a 21 year old with over 10,000 professional football minutes in both Serie A Brasil and Ligue 1.

It is akin to signing Paulinho from Leverkusen in 2 years if he proves himself in Europe. He/They do not need to move to Roma/Lyon/Arsenal before going to Barcelona/Madrid/PSG/City BUT Roma/similar would love to wedge themselves in the middle for a season or two and raise their price from 40m to 100m such as the market currently is.

I’ll let you all battle it out about wether or not he’ll be a flop but this signing does excite me. Gives us more options and more speed—- something we definitely lack outside of Dembele/Semedo.

BBZ8800, do you think our team's technique is still "10/10"?

No.
But I know what you are aiming at.

My point is that we had 10/10 tech and 5/10 physique.
Once when others raised the bar to 9/10 and 9/10 we started to suffer due to a poor physique.

If I'll reply now that our technique dropped from 10/10 to 9/10, you and some others will say: you see, this is why we are struggling (Rakitic in midfield, for example), due to a drop in technique and NOT because of a raised level of physique in our opponents.
Let's meet in the middle and say:
Ok, our technique is not as good in Pep's era.
But our physique is as poor as back then, while others improved a lot in both technique and physique.

So, we could improve in technique, slightly, true, from 9 to 10.
In physique, we have tons of space for improving, since we are probably the weakest top team in terms of overall pace, stamina, strength, height.

Coutinho will have European passport before the league starts.

But i hope Mina goes. Not made for Barça + WC hype

Malcom is a done deal. These guys are very near Bartomeu and the board. 40M
