The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread award
La Liga, Sevilla, away (3-2)
1. Fabregas (39,5%) I'm not proud of it either, but along with his 2 goals, his acting won us the game tonight ~ Jaguar
2. Messi (29,8%) essential in second half even if they treated him like piece of meat ~ Yugi
3. Xavi (18,1%) holding it together when it's falling apart ~ BerkeleyBernie
At long last Cesc Fabregas makes the famed top 3, and does so in style, as he takes an undisputed 1 place with nearly 40% of the votes! It took two goals for him to make it this far, and even so he still managed to lose a bunch of voters thanks to his dubious behaviour in regards to Gary Medel being sent off. Could this be the start of a run in the top 3 for Fab? Here's hoping!
In second spot we find an old aquaintance in Lionel Messi, who took a short break from the rankings last match, His two assists were more than enough to earn him just about 30% of the votes. Considering the comments on the forums, it's actually a wonder how he made it to second place, but surely his two great assists were decisive.
Xavi completes this weeks rankings with 18% of the votes. This is his 5th consecutive podium placement, as he still leads the overall leaderboards in front of Messi, in terms of how many times they've featured. Like Messi, however, Xavi got quite some stick for his performance, so it would appear that they both made the rankings because of lack of a better alternative. Considering we were well dominant both in chances created, and of course ball possession, against an in form Sevilla on one of the tougher grounds in La Liga, it seems like us Barca fans are getting somewhat spoiled of late. Perhaps we need to be truely humbled by a better opponent before we again can fully appreciate an important win?
David Villa needs a shoutout, as he was the only one who was fairly close to making the rankings in place of Xavi. This is the first time since matchday 1 that Villa gets a single point. Perhaps the evil dicator Tito will let him get a taste of grass more frequently from now on?
This weeks rankings had one of the lowest spreads so far this season - and this despite the fact that we saw a new all time record voting-attendance in the thread - as aside from the top 3 and David Villa, only two other players were deemed worthy of points: Both Alba and Song earned 1 measly point each.
In any case it's great that we see more and more voters after each game, and I hope people will keep voting when eventually we lose again. Let's hope it won't be the case this midweek though, as we face Benfica in the ChL on Estádio da Luz in Lisbon.
