1. Iniesta; magnificent goal, played very well in midfield in a more preserved role than he is used to. And seeing him as captain makes me drool!
2. Alexis; Was a nightmare for the defenders against Alaves! Continues his hard work, looked sharper than ever this season. Hopefully he will score soon, that will do him good.
3. Villa; Getting his rhythm, proving to Tito he should become a starter any time soon now. Please Tito! Look at that guy! Still as amazing as he always was.

Copa del Rey, Alavés, away (3-0)

1. Iniesta (44,8%) He had an all around great match as well as the great pass for Villa's goal and magnificent shot for the 2nd goal. He doesn't often score goals but when he does; they're fantastic ~ Paganinisrvnge
2. Villa (29,7%) 1 screamer, 1 assist, 1 should-have assist (wrongfully called offside), not shy to pull the trigger generally. Brings a lot of directness to our game ~ Ursegor
3. Alexis (15,1%) Was a nightmare for the defenders against Alaves! Continues his hard work, looked sharper than ever this season. Hopefully he will score soon, that will do him good ~ CF4 1899

Two consecutive top3 placements for Iniesta it is. Last time around, against Rayo, he made it to second spot, and this time, against Alavés in the Copa del Rey, he advanced to the elusive top spot for the second time this season with a commanding 45% of the votes and both a peach of a goal and a brilliant assist to his name.

In second spot, with about 30% of the votes, we find a debutant in David Villa, who started a game for just the fourth time this season. The player in the team with the best goals to minute ratio added a thumping golazo via the crossbar and an assist to his tally, and even though his performance was a bit uneven, he looked sharper than ever so far this season. The speculation on his happines - or lack of same - is rife on the forums these days, and some are even arguing that he's unsettled. In any case, as long as he keeps banging them in, I'm sure a role model professional such as Villa won't cause any problems what so ever within the squad.

Another hot topic these days is a certain chilean. He was bought for big bucks nearly 1½ years ago, but he's still to convince completely that he's our man for the future. I for one still have complete faith in Alexis Sanchez, but for his own sake, it sure as hell would be rather neat if he started scoring again! Otherwise our pockets just might suddenly be 40-60 mio euros lighter come winter already, and we'll see an influx of silly step-overs making the likes of Jay Jay Okocha and Denilson envious, and Rosell happy in his pants.
Anyhow, enough rambling! Alexis has made his second top3 appearance of the season with 15% of the votes, and if he builds on this display - and adds goals to the equation - he should be a more frequent visitor to the rankings. Here's hoping!

Curious facts of the day:

- Messi has missed the top3 podium 4 times this season (1 time because he didn't play). On three of these occasions Iniesta has made the podium, and they have never featured together this season.

- Sergi Roberto made his season debut, but he failed to impress the users in The Official Barcaforum.com MoM-thread, as he wasn't awarded even one single measly point.

- Last week I reported that both Messi, VV, Xavi and Pedro had all featured in every single game so far this season. They were all rested against Alavés.

That's it for this midweek feature. Tune back to the thread this saturday, when we face Celta de Vigo on the Camp Nou.

great work :beer2:

kinda feel sad for sergi roberto. i've always liked him. the fact that he didn't get a single vote doesn't mean he was bad. i think he is the new keita. always gets job done, nothing too fancy but never fail and always playing at his best.

Thanks man, and yeah, I competely agree. He wasn't bad at all, just not very flashy.

Deserved winner Iniesta.

Loving the chart Tricky! By the way, shouldn't Villa's silver show on the chart, or am I missing something?

Bummer, no, you're absolutely right. Something must've gone wrong. I'll fix it asap. Glad you like it!

Edit: It should be fixed now.

Haha ah well, Villa should be fine even without votes from a our forum. He's been very solid this season :) Good update, and thank god Alexis has become third! Really want the guy to succeed here, he is in potential a world class winger/forward.
