They don't look like a top club imo and that's what you're aiming for after spending 250m over two summers. They're closer to Liverpool than Chelsea and City, and leagues away from Barca, Bayern, and Real.

Shouldn't the fee received for Di Maria be subtracted from that figure?

Indeed, their spendings and transfers are pretty shit imo. With 250 M you should be able to make a squad that comes close to the top ones.

Yep we should be much closer to real, barca and bayern but we have spent badly. It was a bad period for our squad as we lost evra, vidic, rio, scholes and giggs all in 2 seasons who were all top players and we needed to replace them all in 1 window or 2 which was never going to work. We are slowly replacing them however and we need to plan to replace our older key players such as rooney, carrick, bastian better over a few years next time.

Otamendi, Silva, Aguero, Toure, Sterling etc all cost less than 200 million in total. Thats how you spend money, not the way we have.

They are considiring to pay the full 80M Release Clause for Antoine Griezmann

Wouldn't be too crazy of a transfer when you consider Bale and Sterling.

Yea, City have spent much better than United. The biggest problem is that you don't really have unbenchable players or players who are huge stars to lead your team. Your team doesn't have an Ronaldo/Messi/Aguero/Hazard/Pogba etc of their own.

It is easier to say than done. Of course they could have spent their money buying players with bigger profiles, but who is available? They can't buy Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Neymar, Hazard, Mueller, Lewandowski etc...

We messed up big time under Fergie by missing out on the likes of Hazard,Aguero,Silva etc.

Who would have known Hazard would turn out like how he is today back then though?

You guys got Depay, he could be the next big thing like Hazard.

Hazard was as close to the real deal as you could get and even back then he was considered to be a top player and we didn't sign him because Fergie thought agent fee was too high..

Now Griezmann's brother is playing with our hearts! We can't take it anymore!

Griezmann would be a dream signing but its never going to happen.

Van Gaal is doing his pre game presser now. Journo's quizing him about pedro and if he is unhappy with woodward, he is happy with woody and says nobody should doubt him. Looks like we did drop the pedro interest...

He also mentioned that we will have to wait and see about incoming transfers. Also looks like de gea will stay and he will made a judgement on him on the 1st of september.
