I think DDG will spend a year with Valdes in the stands and we won't be buying any other players which is a mistake if you ask me but ohwell.

The obsession with Pedro has become ridiculous. Do they realise we have a game tomorrow? I'm glad Van Gaal didn't indulge them, they are always stirring

Van Gaal is doing his pre game presser now. Journo's quizing him about pedro and if he is unhappy with woodward, he is happy with woody and says nobody should doubt him. Looks like we did drop the pedro interest...

He also mentioned that we will have to wait and see about incoming transfers. Also looks like de gea will stay and he will made a judgement on him on the 1st of september.

Even for a complete and utter nutter like Van Gaal, it would be rather rash to call out your chairman like that. Imagine what it would do to your image, if he went out and admitted openly that you had indeed completely dropped the ball on the Pedro transfer. You'd both be ridiculed for not closing the transfer in due time, but also once again make it obvious that there are many more desirable destinations than Old Trafford, when a club like Chelsea can steal in and snatch your long time target in a matter of days.

Perhaps you did drop the interest after all, but I just don't think Van Gaal's words are testament enough.

Van Gaal has done it before, he doesn't care. If somebody pisses him off, he will let everybody know. He doesn't lie and is as transparent as they come. His press conferences can be hilarious but so frustrating at the same time.

Yeah, Van Gaal usually doesn't mince his words, but I still doubt he'd want to cause a shit storm in Man Utd at this point.

Sanz (agency Pedro):
"Everyone knows United were in the race, but Chelsea was quicker. Deal with Barça in 24 hours - like a lightning bolt."
"Man United offered the same transfer fee as Chelsea, but the payments were structured differently." [rct via efe]
"Maybe Man United dozed off a bit. man City also showed interest, which proves that Pedro has been doing great." [rct]

This could be percieved like you guys indeed did stall over the move because you had second thoughts, but also as Chelsea simply hijacking the deal all together.

There was a report in The Guardian that Pedro was reconsidering the move to Man Utd because of Van Gaal and The Guardian is a very credible and highly regarded paper who usually get things right. Think it was reported in The Telegraph too.

So it's not like Pedro was dying to go there and they called it off..

Man Utd might have backed off because Pedro was having second thoughts though, but that they now want to perceive they never wanted him is just ridiculous when they freaking director travelled to Barcelona to negotiate.

What has he said?

It's how he's acted. If I was a player who got a big chance with a big club, I'd have the courtesy to pay them back. He could sign an extension only to help Man U get a sum of what he's worth and be allowed to Real Madrid if he chooses to go. Instead he doesn't sign and is willing to leave on a free next season.

Signing the extension would hurt his ability to get big signing on fee when he signs for Real and it will probably even result in lower wages. When clubs pay over the odds for the players the players usually suffer(ie. Martinez,Herrera etc.) so it's unrealistic of us to expect him to sign a new contract although we should still try to offer him insane amounts to persuade him even though it's a long shot because paying him the entire fee we are about spend on our next keeper would still be a good business...

It is not like united need help... If DDG signs extension he will risk his move to real. United might demand crazy amounts and tell real to fuck off unless they give bale or someone.

Best option would be an extension with decent buy out clause..We should make it clear to him that unless he signs an extension with reasonable buy out clause he'll be forced to train with reserves..I was dead set against selling him but looking at how we've coped without him I'm begging to change my stance..
